Both YPAO and MCACC are ruining my mids.

So "OFF" means the LCD screen will not turn off when you use Pure Direct?
I only found it. I didnt play with it. Sorry :) I was in the middle of trying to figure out what all the options listed in the scene menu means and whether or not to check or uncheck them or to even use scenes at all.

Yeah a bit different in terms from Yamaha to Denon I suppose, as I mentioned more recently, on Denon the direct mode does turn off/disable features similarly, pure direct only adds the turning off of panel lights....
That's it huh? I believe it. I've measured to see if there was a difference between the 2 and both pure and direct looked identical.

Says so in the manual, that it could be a source of noise, tho. Never could tell a difference.

Setup menu.... sound menu.....DSP PureDirect can be set to auto or off
I tried on my RX-A3080. I think if just controls whether to output the Video signal on your TV when using PD. It does nothing with the front LCD of the AVR.

That was my feeling too after reading it in the manual. I wonder if Yamaha went this route after they started adding networking to their receivers l

Oh well, nobody's perfect. You win some, you lose some.

From what I can see Pure Direct turns off the display and there is no way to turn it on in this mode. If you want two channels with minimal processing on two channel sources, use the "Straight" mode. Straight will give you subwoofer output.
