I live in a loft, so half is my dinning area and I have a couch that separates my living quarters. I already have my theater set up great for my situation. My question is, since my sub is in the corner with the wall. Should I add another sub on the side with no wall or upgrade my sub. I'm happy with my set up,but I've always heard that having two subs is better than one larger sub. My sub is a pb 1000. What would you guys do?

The advantages of a second pb1000 would probably be a good idea. How big is your space in terms of overall volume, tho? Is there something you feel is lacking with the sub now? What's the theater consist of now?

Yup...

"Loft" and "PB1000" sound mutually exclusive to me. :p Since the Sub will see the whole open room volume, that is one of the more important considerations: matching Woofage to the space.

I have had two
PB 1000’s for about a year. Nice, adequate, but you live with what if’s...always buy more subwoofer than you think you need.

Depending on your age and the permanacy of your living situation upgrade now! I think my system sounds great, but there is no way I would buy two1,000’s today. Minimum 2,000’s and probably cylinders.

I have a Yamaha Aventage a-1080 with 2 studio reference paradigm towers, paradigm studio reference center and 4 ceiling speakers w/two height speakers.

And the volume of the space open to the subs?

My listening area is
20'×18'. My sub is in the right corner. The corner is a 45* angle which makes the best spot. Where I would prefer to put the sub is in the exact opposite side of my tv, just in the same place as my other sub but there's no wall in either direction. There's a 3' wall behind the place where I would place it...

This sub definitely goes down to 19Hz! Where I placed it there's no localization. I'm thinking of getting another 1000, use the Yamahas YPOW then fine tune both subs as flat as possible...

Yes, but I have a choice of heights or back L&R.

No... we were talking Height as in ROOM VOLUME, not speaker. Nor how-loud-you-like-it volume...

But the Geometric Volume of your whole Open Room... you know... Length x Width x HEIGHT

My loft is 800 sq. ft. I only use half of that for my living space. The ceiling is 10'. Above my head the ceiling is a 45* angle, and to the left there's a couch, no wall.
So my listening space is 400sq ft.10'×20' ×20'.

The sub doesn't care what your "listening space" is. It sees the volume of the whole area open to it, ie your entire loft. So it is seeing 8000 cubic feet of air space, assuming your ceiling is 10 ft for the the entire space.

I'm also thinking about getting a three channel
amplifier. Or should I get a seven channel? I'm running two Paradigm
Studio Reference towers and center, and six ceiling speakers.

I'd put the money toward better subwoofage. The space you're dealing with is quite large for PB-1000's. I'd contact SVS and see if you could upgrade your existing PB-1000 to something in the 2000 series.

So I should upgrade my single sub? The PB100 is VERY impressive. I'm probably going to exchange the 1000 for the 2000...
It would be hard to sink two subs in this room.

IMO, absolutely.
The 2000 pro series is a much better subwoofer. Don’t read that as an insult, it’s just how it it is. I would definitely do an upgrade before buying an amp.

Also, if your main speakers are getting to a volume that you're happy with there is not much reason to get an external amp other than putting less stress on your receiver.
