I’ve only had this happen when plugged into a. iPhone on usb mode .
Just shutting itself off , one day was overheating ...

Any better way to do this ? Or Protect it from issues
Definitely notice static from the connection even from new cables.

Maybe try a reset if your AVR? That’s a old AVR came out umm 2011 or 2012, I had two of those both crapped out on me, sad cause I really like that unit had a ton of Creature features nice EQ, 130 X 2 into 8 Ohms.

Do modern onkyo and integra still suffer the same fate of the 818 and older models ?

Demon and other brands had way better smart features .

Yeah it’s far too complex of an avr , you can reset an avr ? Could be the USB ports going faulty ..
I think this model has over heating isues ,

My longer usb is working no lagg it’s my monoprice lightning cAble that’s already going bad ...

Still getting static and popping maybe the usb drive in the onkyo isn’t good with iPhone ?

Can’t say for sure, all AVR. Manufacturers has issues even Yamaha who is King of the Hill aka (ADTG) :p;) when it comes to Reliability. But yeah Demon AVR’s can and do run hot, I didn’t realize Denon changed up their name Demon uh? guess Denon figured since their AVR’s run a little hot just soon give their Brand a hellish name! :p;)

So you have a lightning connector? Get a lightning to 3.5 dongle(adapter). 10 bucks at BB.

No. Not quite.

If your iPhone has a headphone jack, then you can use a 3.5 to rca. Like this

AmazonBasics 3.5mm to 2-Male RCA Adapter Audio Stereo Cable - 4 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D5H8JW0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_xTXSEb1SQCKB7

If you have a lightning connector on your iPhone, then use the above cable, but also use this with it.

Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXJFMGF

The headphone jack on the avr is an output, not an input. Yes, you can reset an avr....look in the manual for instructions.
