AMPS UNDER 400$ WITH THE BEST SINAD

very important question for anyone who knows , I'm looking to upgrade from my xli 800 for better signal to noise ratio, I was

going for outlaw audio model 2200 to match my 976 receiver from them but it's out of stock no telling when it will be back, so after I saw this a video review on the a800 an the km 750 an the price I thought it would either would be a great alternative so to

you which is better than the xli 800 (a800 or the km750) im leaning torwards the km 750 for the price but id like to know the sinad spec an how it compares to the a800 an the xli 800

an with the gain knobs at 70% how is the heat build My current configuration with my xli for my fronts and center an sides and backs, from the Receiver channel output is - 7db on my fronts an side's, on my center and backs is - 10db The xlr preouts is rated

as 4v to 9v an all my xli's are set in 1.4vrms mode What are the sensitivity options for the a800
 
The XLi noise spec is 100 dB A-weighted, and that’s the problem. An A-weighted spec rolls out the high and low frequencies (look up A-weighted response curve), which is typically where the noise is. What you want is an amp with an unweighted noise spec, also known as Z-weighted. An unweighted spec is 20 Hz – 20 kHz.

That said, an A-weighted spec can be adequate if it is unusually high, like 115-120 dB. But not something like 100 dB, as you already know.

There are at least three companies making an amplifier model A800, so can’t help you there.

The KM750 has a 100 dB unweighted spec, which should be good. However, Behringer has been known fudge their specs. If you get one, make sure it has a generous return policy.

That Crown amp is 100 db A weighted. So they are the same.

A really good S/N is something you have to pay for. With the large number of channels now that is a crucial spec.

My Quad amp are 108 db unweighted. I have 18 amp channels and with them all on you can hear a pin drop. No sound at the LP, and almost no sound with your ear up against the speaker.

However the Marantz 7705 Pre/pro is specked at 105 db A weighted. You can hear at the listening position in a quiet room. It does not intrude on program, but when talking about 7.2.4 channels it is not good enough.

DO YOU KNOW IF THE S/N ON THE KM750 IS BETTER THEN THE XLI 800 OR WHAT IT IS

I told you the Crown amp is 100 db A weighted S/N.
One that is more than you want to pay for will do what you want.

100 dB unweighted is better than 100 dB A-weighted, on paper at least. Since it “hides” potential low and high frequency noise, an A-weighted spec can “improve” a component’s noise figures by as much as 10 dB. Thus, the 100 dB A-weighted noise spec for the XLi could be as low as 90 dB unweighted. Manufacturers often use an A-weighted spec to make their gear appear to be quieter than it really is.

Published specs are a good place to start, but as TLS Guy noted, that’s not necessarily the end of the story. For instance, a number of Yamaha flagship AVRs I’ve had over the years, some were dead-silent, but some were not. But, they all had the same S/N spec.

Frankly I view the noise specs of cheap amps with suspicion, even brand-name models. That’s why I suggested a generous return policy.

You haven’t mentioned what speakers you have, but it should be noted that speakers with high efficiency mated with noisy equipment is a “lethal combination,” in a matter of speaking. With speakers like that, dead-silent equipment is a drop-dead requirement.

Which site are you using and how do you find outlaws under $400?
Isn’t that an expensive brand

Looks like Crown's drivecore series from the 250x and up would be an improvement, with s/n on par with most consumer gear. Hasn't Amir benched one of those?
