Turning off projector kills sound/and maybe app

Hello:
My projector is an Epson Home Cinema 2150 and my receiver is a Denon AVR-X1500H.

I have an Amazon Firestick plugged into the back of the receiver and the projector plugged into the back of the receiver as well.

Everything works great. My issuer is; when I turn off my projector the sound goes away.
This might seem strange. But, Amazon has several nice audio apps that are good to fall asleep to.

leaving the projector on, isn’t good as you want the room to be dark and also I don’t want to wear out my bulb prematurely.

So; is there a way to get an app running on amazon Prime, then turn off the projector and have the amazon prime app continue to run?

regards

Sounds like an HDMI issue.

Make sure neither the receiver or projector are set to send or receive audio.

What version fire stick and what version HDMI cable goes to the projector?

Thank you for the quick response.

I just reset my Fire TV Stick to Factory Settings.

My projector has HDMI Link = off

And when I turn my projector off, it kills the sound.

This is HDMI cable:
Monoprice HDMI High Speed Active Cable - 30 Feet - Black, 4K@60Hz, HDR, 18Gbps, 24AWG, YUV, 4:4:4, CL2 - Cabernet Ultra Active Series https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015121JHY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TVqOEbXXNHKZQ

Firestick version:
Fire TV Home Version: 6222059.1
Software version: Fire OS 5.2.7.2 (648595120)

When I do this same thing utilizing my cable box. That is: I have my cable box on and playing a channel, then turn off my projector. The sound stays on.

One think I did notice is when doing this as described in the previous paragraph (utilizing cable box). When I turn the projector off, the sound does go away for a few seconds. But then it starts back up.

All I want is to play the audio from a show running on Amazon and have it continue playing the audio when I turn my projector off.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

I just tried the same with a computer monitor instead of my projector.

I setup the monitor by plugging it into the HDMI port on my receiver. I start up the Firestick. Everything is running. Then I turn the monitor off and the sound stops.

This is driving me nuts.

any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm a bit rushed this morning - although not ideal, would it work if after the PJ is turned off, and you lose sound, if you switch inputs on your receiver, give it a few seconds to recognize the connection and update the sound codec display on the receiver, and then turn back to your cable - will that at least solve it?

I'll try to figure this out, more, later!

Does your AVR have a built-in sleep timer? Many do.

Hello:
So cable is on HDMI1 and Amazon Firestick is on HDMI2.
Are you saying. I get everything running on HDMI2.
Then turn PJ and then move the Firestick to HMDI1?
I’ll give that a try.

I don’t think so. How would that impact the sound going away?
I’ll be happy to try anything to troubleshoot this issue.
Please let me know if there is something specific you think might resolve this issue.
Regards.

No, I am saying when you lose sound output on HDMI 1, try switching to Input 2 with the Denon remote control, allow the Denon at least 5 seconds or so to recognize the different signal, before switching back to HDMI1

I tried that with no luck.
When I turn my PJ off, then switch from HDMI2(Firestick) to HMDI1(cable), I hear my cable station. However when I switch back to HMDI2, no sound.

if anyone has any other thoughts, it would be much appreciated.

regards to all.

I also tried by getting everything up and running(Firestick, PJ, etc). Then I simply pull the HDMI cable that goes to the PJ. The sound goes out. When I plug the HDMI cable back, the video from the Firestick is displayed, but it appears the “show” was paused.

I just can’t figure out why the Firestick has an issue when the video is unplugged...

baffled...

Yeah I'm not sure what the problem is... I think you should contact Denon and see what they think! Hopefully it gets resolved for you!

Seriously, I have no life.
How are you controlling the system- a handful of OEM remotes, or a universal? If you use the OEM remotes, try switching the AVR to the Firestick input before turning off the projector. If this works and you use a universal, add the input change command to the macro for turning off the projector.

Your projector has a standby command, to allow the bulb to cool, right? Use that, rather than the Power Off command.

Your problem is related to HDCP and EDID. When you turn off a monitor or projector (HDCP sources), the Denon must renegotiate copyright protection between just the Firestick and the Denon with no display in the mix.

When this change occurs, the Firestick automatically pauses playback.

Similarly, when I unplug headphones from my iPad and a show is playing, it automatically pauses playback, instead of continuing playback through the speakers. I must press play again.

If you have a remote control app for your Firestick, you likely can press 'play' on it after five or ten seconds of the projector being powered off.

This is NOT a failure on the part of the Firestick, or your Denon. It is just meant to be a feature, and likely isn't one you can turn off (go team stupid programmer!). So, you will need to find a workaround, and that is most likely by using the remote. Not sure what remote it comes with, but you may also just try to press the 'play' button to see if that starts audio back up. But, I would think the app for the Firestick may provide additional details of operation.

I haven't looked on Google for solutions to retain playback on display shutdown, but I wouldn't be surprised if this question hasn't been asked elsewhere already.

It won't help to disconnect or reconnect anything to your receiver. That's definitely not the issue IME.

EDIT: Did a quick Google, and here is something that confirms what you said, and indicates the fix as simply pressing play again on the remote...

Yeah, same thing has happened to me when I turn off my display when using my FireStick and a simple press of play gets the audio going again. You might be able to program a universal remote to do that?

It’s doesn’t pause on my Vizio 1080p TV + Fire stick 4K via my Integra AVR when I turn the TV off, but does happen on my acer PJ 720p as well. Connected older Fire stick 1080p via Pioneer AVR. I did catch that once when I turn back the PJ and it was paused. BMXTRIX is correct.
