I dont know what is hdmi control or Arc. I just know arc lets you use the remote of tv for volume. This is only usefull for me when i use netflix from tv app. This helps me adjust volume faster from tv remote to marantz.

marantz setup wizard advices everybody to use Arc. check it out if you want.

If you use the Netflix TV app, then the TV is creating the audio for everything. ARC passes the audio from the TV to the Marantz, down the ARC connection. This is exactly what ARC is and what it is for.

If you need a remote to control everything, then that's what universal remote controls are for.

You should leave ARC on with how you use your system.

You should do some research on what ARC means and what it does so you have a better understanding of it.

when i disable simplink from tv nenu, my tv looses hdmi arc and goes to internal speaker settings. crazy huh?
i have another idea if you agree. Use optical for audio, hdmi arc for video.
not to fix anything, just to upgrade my connection.

ARC and optical audio are the same thing.

Be aware that HDMI typically travels from source to destination. So, your A/V receiver is typically the source. ARC merely allows that HDMI cable to be used in reverse to send audio into the receiver. It is quite common to completely ignore ARC and just use optical audio output from the TV to feed an A/V receiver, and that's perfectly acceptable. Quality is typically the same as what standard ARC offers. eARC offers higher quality audio, but both the receiver and the TV would need to support eARC connectivity. Not sure your does, it would be labeled eARC on both devices.

Another option is to not use the TV speakers for anything. To always use the A/V receiver. Get a good universal remote control, and hook all your sources up to the A/V receiver. That's what I do in my house. Roku, AppleTV, Cable Box, media player, etc. all go into my Denon (or Yamaha) and when I push a button on the remote, it turns on the proper gear and the remote controls that device properly every single time. It's easy enough to do with a good remote, and solves so many ease of use issues that people have. You do want a good remote and you want to ensure your family sticks with that universal remote.

My kids, wife, and family that visits quickly figures out how to use the remote for basic control of things. It's a much better way to go. Also, you are always using your good speakers and good sound and good gear for everything, which is why you paid for all of it!

I have an optical cable. I have a good hdmi arc cable as well.
am i pluging in the optical or not? Or stay with Arc for all.
with the hdmi control off the marantz doesnt follow TV audio if another hdmi is open :) i have to click from avr remote the right source If both are open. It wasnt doing this with hdmi control.
and i had to reopen just from tv side hdmi cec because it looses the hdmi arc and goes to tv speakers

The only advantage HDMI ARC might have over optical for audio from the tv is the ability to get Dolby Digital Plus with Atmos metadata from some streaming services from what I've seen, otherwise they currently have the same lossy codecs/bandwidth limitations. You can continue to use the HDMI even if using the hdmi ARC ports (just disable hdmi control type settings) and just add the optical for audio from the tv....

Ok i need DD+ netflix has it. So i am installing optical?
Do you have Atmos speakers? I don't seem to remember you do, so that would not benefit you. Optical would be no different in your particular case unless you want the ARC functionality.

DD+ is not supported over ARC or optical. Either connection is fine. It depends on what is easiest for you and your family to use.
Optical is limited, but HDMI ARC for DD+? Maybe with certain gear.... Either way with a 5.1 system I'd not worry about it.

I put optical for a change and kept the arc. İ reset the amp. İ choose optical for audio.
my speakers doesnt work correctly, when i play netflix. they work as surround, just the center speaker plays the dialogues.
but if i choose multi channel stereo it plays correctly. But i need DD+
does anybody knows hot to fix it or i am taking it out.
