Running Audyssey for the very first time.

Hello everyone,

I just picked up a new Denon 4500 (my first receiver other than a Yamaha) and tried to run Audyssey this morning. My speaker setup is 5/1 with the mains being Paradigm studio 100s and the rear surrounds studio 40s. The sub is HSU.

My problem is occurring right at the beginning of running Audyssey. It sees all of my speakers ok but it keeps wanting me to check the wiring on "side surrounds" which I do not have. When I go into setup speaker configuration and remove the side surrounds it also removes the rear surrounds.

I have searched for this problem on this and other websites but it seems all i can find are threads where Audyssey does not recognize the speakers you do have.

Any help is welcome and appreciated.

Surrounds are the “side surrounds”, the rear surrounds are only used if you also have “side surrounds”. You can have the surrounds behind you, its not as optimal as to the sides or side slightly behind, but works very well and for many is much easier to do in their space.
Just connect your rear placed surrounds to the normal surround outputs and everything will be good after another auto setup run.
