Hello all
Trying to set up some sound for my bedroom not trying to get super crazy so here we go
S.M.S.L AD18 for amplification
Micca RB42 speakers
BIC Venturi V1020 10in sub or Dayton 10in sub
Just wanting any advice of the gear I selected maybe someone has already gone this route and know of a better setup but you can see the price point is not that great and thats what I'm looking to spend I have a little room for more budget but not much. Thanks for any input

Well it's kind of hard to say without knowing what your expectations are.

However I can say, my 12 yr old grandson has these in his bedroom with a 2 channel onkyo receiver that I believe is 80 or 100 watts per channel. And these do have a nice sound, but are very power hungry, im not sure what their efficiency rating is, but it cant be to good. His room is pretty small, maybe 10 x 10. And even in that small room, they just sound small ( but they sound ok). If an adult was wanting stereo sound in a bedroom, I would definitely want something with a larger presence to the sound. A sub will help, but I don't know if it will help enough.
It just really all depends on your expectations as I stated early on. So many other options out there it's hard to say without knowing your expectations. Sorry if that's not much help.

Is this what you already have, or are considering buying, or a combo?

No I don't own any of these items just a list I made of equipment I have looked up and watched some reviews on.
I have a set of THX logitech computer speakers right now and they are more than good for the space I'm just looking for something that looks better than computer speakers and the AD18 has bluetooth so I can connect it to my tv or through optical. Again just ideas I'm throwing up on items I've watched reviews on. Just looking for ideas

For speakers, I would probably lean toward something from the Dayton MK400 series, like the MK402X or MK442T, simply because it's a known quantity unlike the Micca speakers, which do get a lot of recommends but no measurements to speak of. I bet you this system would be comparable for the purposes of music reproduction in a small room but it costs a whole lot less.

On a budget these DCM TP160s are still very hard to beat. These are some very, very nice sounding speakers that punch way above their current price point. In fact they're such a good deal I ended up with a pair myself and I definitely don't need any more speakers! @zieglj01 and @KEW are familiar with these too.

I noticed the other day they had 4 pack deals on ebay but can't find it now. All in all any of the DCM products that have been heavily reduced are a fantastic value on some legit, very nice sounding speakers.

The 4/pack is sold out -- and one pair of the DCM TP160S speakers left

But there still seems to be plenty of the TP160 towers available -- a crazy good price

Just jump on these speakers! They are almost gone, but nothing comes close!
If you miss them, the Sony SSCS5 is often discounted to around $75, but you will have to watch for the sales because they are back up to $150.
The magic of the DCM TP160S is they are a very good speaker at their retail price ($350/pr. IIRC)!
The fact that they are discounted to $109/pr makes them the kind of deal you see about once in a decade.
The speakers ShadyJ recommends are likely quite quite good for such low prices, but there is no way anyone could afford to put the quality drivers of the DCM's in a decent box at those MSRP prices!
Outside of other clearance specials (like Infinity R162 for ~$170/pr or JBL 530 for $300/pr), I haven't heard a speaker that can beat these for less than the $450 -$500 price (MSRP) range!

If the TP160S are gone before you buy (looks like they will be), the TP160 towers Zieg linked at $150 in Cherry or $160 in Black are your best option (even if you have to wait on the sub).

The speaker is the most important component of your system, then the sub, then the electronics!

BTW, once you get everything, let us know so we can help setting up your sub. I am pretty sure the AD18 distinguishes itself by actually having bass management! IIRC, it has a fixed crossover of 80Hz that actually applies a high pass filter to the mains as well as a low pass to the sub output.

Get the towers for mains and the BS for surrounds and you got yourself a really good set of speakers that you'd have to spend 1000s to do any better. Kurt's not exaggerating when he says "deal of the decade". I was floored at how good these speakers sound given the price.

Wow thanks for all the help everyone. Firstly those speakers look awesome but I cant use floor standing. So the setup is as follows the TV is wall mounted and I have a media cabinet under it that is slightly bigger than the TV which comes to my second issue the DCM bookshelfs would be way too big they would block the TV and just to right hand side of the media cabinet is a door so if I put the speakers on a separate stand the right side would block the door. I also would like to apologize because I never said what these speakers would be used for. So they will be used 95 percent of the time to supplement the low quality of the TV speakers. I have a home theater so I don't need this to be that I just want loud good sound when watching shows and the occasional movie when I don't feel like going into the basement theater and the rest of the 5 percent is music when I'm cleaning my room. I'm trying to stay away from a sound bar because I also love the look of separate speakers.
