Epson 5040UB Video Drops

For the past year, I’ve had daily issues with my Epson 5040UB projector. While watching either a Blu-ray, streaming from a roku player, etc. the video just drops randomly. I thought it was my receiver (Denon 6300 AVR) so I replaced it and the same issue happens. I’ve tried every setting on the AVR as well as the projector to no avail.

How long is the HDMI cable between your receiver and the projector? If the cable is 25' or over, then you probably need either and active cable or a hybrid optical HDMI cable. The latter is the best choice. I have a suspicion your cable length is right on the edge for a passive cable.

I have the 5040 and I run around 15 ft. Of HDMI cable and I haven’t had a problem. Except if I go into the settings and select auto. For the 2D to 3D it seems to be blurry for 2D so I go to setting all the time to change it back and forth
