Use caution with attempted participation in other threads

After trying to function as a participant in the forums here, I have found a significant number of folks that will disregard your experience (they asked for opinions I thought ),then stomp the hell out of you for pissing in their pond. My belief was, that given a significant amount of experience with items in the topic, that a response was appropriate. You got me.

You will have a better experience here if you just remain a fly on the wall. It’s not worth the hassle to get involved in other folks posts.

These forums, from time to time, can definitely have a few that act really harsh. It's up to you if you want to participate, but these forums don't always accept opinions that fly in the face of fact for darn sure. Mostly, people try to stick with facts over opinion here or if it is opinion over fact, many try to emphasize that it is just their opinion.

With that said, I spent a few minutes looking over your recent posts, and it seems like you are posting on topic and information that is based on knowledge and intelligence and everything I saw was solid. Responses to your posts were all favorable (from what I looked at).

Be very aware that there are always some new guys that come on that just want people to validate their stupidity. Telling them that a setup is ignoring industry standards just pisses them off and they lash out.

So, a little thick skin at times is necessary.

I think in the (10+?) years I've been here I've reported like 2 or 3 people who have just rampaged against me.

I would hate to lose your thoughts because they do seem to be intelligent. I'm guessing this thread may disappear sooner rather than later, but if you do read this, know that one or two harsh critics is part of the online lifestyle and shouldn't be taken personally, even if they act like complete douches.

I've even called out some long time posters for being really critical of stupid low-budget ideas. Yeah, we can point out the issues with those systems, but if they are asking for help, then lets not JUST be critical, lets try to be helpful. Well, until that poster continues to ignore us, posts all the time, and can't figure out how to use the 'EDIT' and 'QUOTE' buttons. :D

I also looked through his posts and got nothing of what he's talking about. Seems like a level headed person with good knowledge.

If people with a low post count are being rude, ignore them. It looks to me that the long time members here are conversing with you and being nice enough. Not sure what prompted this post though, I must have missed where someone was being rude.

Yeah, I'm a little confused. I haven't noticed any scuttlebutts with @CoryW. I think I might have even qft'd him once...

I've read your posts too and enjoy your contributions I too agree completely with @BMXTRIX and I agree completely with a point he brought up here.

This is a fact based forum and site which I value greatly this it's taught me a lot.

I don't expect the community to put up with people asking for opinions or validations on setups or theories that are just plain wrong then when the community tries to help they are just plain ugly or defensive those posts get ugly and rightly so nobody in the community should put up with that rest assured @CoreyW your not like that at all I enjoy your contributions

But I've noticed that there is a trend where newcomers post on setups and suggestions and they are obviously knew. They are polite articulate and wanting to learn. But if they express one off comment on something scientific they can get brutalized. Or those comments are used to make fun of them they get defensive which anyone would the thread gets brutal and well we probably lost a new member

When I used to play poker for a living we had a saying don't berate the new guy for making a bad play you chase enough new players off the table well then you don't have a game then you can't make a living

It's not just our responsibility to give out the right info but to encourage the newcomer to want to stick around and learn. It not only helps audioholics in the long run but it also helps our industry grow more customers better for the industry it thrives we get better options win win for all of us.

As pointed out we can be patient with the new guys IF they are genuinely open minded in return without being so harsh sometimes
even if it takes time to get them to understand something.

I’m on my phone, evac’d from home, so I can’t look back. Just thought I’d add that when I was a newcomer last year, I was intimidated in a way, because I had never owned high end gear, though I’ve had it near and in my life. Getting involved was tough. But worth it. I spent a lot of time asking questions and pussyfooting around until I got more comfortable. Glad I did, and very happy to be involved here.
Way different then that other site where I still barely participate.
:)
Hang in there and get your footing! This is a great place to be.

Thanks folks. This is my third ID. I had the other two deleted because it’s been so damn irritating. I’ve been away from people, in isolation for over ten years with severe health issues. I’m re-learning people skills. I thought this would be a good place start.

I appreciate your thoughts. I have never messed with a public forum before. Helping folks is why I joined. I have absolutely nothing else to do.

I have close to 40 years in audio, and twenty in a technology support role, with expertise in just about everything but main frame. You need a packet trace in source routed token ring read, I’m your guy. I will get a little more technical in writing style so the logic is more apparent.
Thanks guys

Hang in there bud, don't give up on us so fast.

Choosing to relearn people skills via an on-line forum is truly "trial by fire"!
Between the anonymity of on-line and lack of body language, forums can be truly brutal places!
There are definitely worse forums than this one, but I have seen my share of flames here!
This thread is a good strategy because it gets us to take note and evaluate you as you have presented yourself as CoreyW. Our "snapshot" of you today will carry our impression of you for a while!
I commend you for coming back for a third round after "crashing and burning" twice. That uses the on-line anonymity to your advantage! But moreover reflects a healthy determination!
But you can expect to catch some flack from time to time.

It's great that you are in a place where you are looking to "re-enter society". Wishing you the best on your endeavors!
