Denon x4500h, Directv, Samsung display.
for months I turn everything on with the Directv remote, if I don’t want stereo I turn off the Denon with it’s remote.
Friday and today whenever I turn the Denon off I get an error message saying the Directv is not on or the input is not connected(it is). I spent 10 minutes trying to get the tv to play without the stereo.
I think this is what you call a handshake issue. Any ideas how to resolve this? Thanks in advance.

You want to listen to the tv's speakers? Using some sort of pass thru for the D* box?

Yes, but something changed. Previously when I wanted to hear tv speakers I just turned the Denon off. Now when I turn the Denon off the DTV doesn’t show even though it is powered on.

Well, only you would know what changed....but why do you want to listen to tv speakers at all?

Depends on content, if there is no benefit....

I never use speakers on a tv. No matter the content....

Wonder if a firmware update might have done something like this?

Same here. My plasmas speakers never made a sound for its entire life until I had to wait a few days for my new AVR. Horrible.... better than some TVs but still. Horrible.....

Check your ARC setting on TV and AVR both. I think mine got engaged somehow, too. Dunno when, but I haven't taken the time to deep dive it.
