Audyssey just for speaker distances/delay?

It for 2.4 stars in the Android app. store. No way am I spending 20 bucks on an app. that got 2.4 stars. I'll make do with Audyssey from the receiver itself.
99% of that was the early releases. There's been so many fixes, it's stable and good now. I've been using it regularly for random testing. You can experiment with multiple runs and then upload the best one to your AVR.

Maybe but I doubt it. That's just not in my blood to spend 20 bucks on an app.

If they fixed things I might give the app another go. I had issues with consistency on my SR6011 to the point I asked for my money back.

For the cost of a bad movie in a crowded auditorium, it’s given me more entertainment and much more use! It does work pretty well, and better than the on-board version for its ability to customize. :)
To each their own. *shrugs

I’ve done multiple consecutive runs with the same results in my room. Minor adjustments from moving speakers aside, I think they got it working much better now, Pogre. :D Cheers!

Back to the question about needing to reset before re-running Audyssey? No, it resets the parameters itself. Wouldn't hurt, tho, but you might lose other settings you have elsewhere in the avr. Congrats on the successful re-running :) I'd definitely use the app if it were available for my older Denon....like Pogre, you could always ask for your money back. I do think it odd they just didn't include it in the price of the unit, but I suppose every $20 they can save on list price....

I agree. For the money they get, it should be free but whatever. I dropped 20 bucks on it and imo, it was easily worth it. What I don’t like is that the “after” graphs are just targets, but I do have rew so...

I remember Chris K (Audyssey) indicating long ago he never wanted too accurate of a graph made available, felt that might give too much away for free was the impression I got. The app he tends to say is in the hands of D&M, so suspect that was just a marketing decision....maybe of all users only a relative few buy the app?

Well it sounds incredible. Don't know how much the app could do you make it even better but I see no need at this time, sorry guys. If it were 10 maybe but I don't, 20 bucks is a lot. Sounds so good I can do without the extra bit of tweaking.

The biggest "advantage" is being able to choose the eq curve, and limit it to the schroeder frequency if you want. I'd just like to play with it mostly....even for $20. It would be my most expensive app, tho :)

Don’t blame ya. It’s one of the only apps I have ever paid for. One thing that dries me is in app purchases. Fukk that! I’d rather just pay up front than have them nickel and dime me to death! But I know. That’s why they do it, because a little here, and a little there, people don’t notice.
Anyway, glad you got it figured out. Exciting!

Yeah it's really nice. When I first got he X3400H I was a bit intimidated by Audyssey. It certainly was much more involved than YPAO. That took about 5 minutes to do. Then I screwed it up or looking back I did because it did not sound good at all. Like to the point I thought I had screwed up and bought the wrong receiver. Then I did it a second time because I added height channels and rushed through it. That one I must screwed up royally because that's when I decided to turn Audyssey off. Then I really started to question my decision to buy a Denon receiver. Then I actually started looking at Yamaha receivers to replace it with but luckily came here to start this thread. And now here we are, 2 successful Audyssey runs and the second with a brand new nice tripod. I think I'm good to go.

Imo the app is great for someone who like to play and play often, and can't afford the time, and/or those who don't like the Mid range compensation, and/or EQ'ing above the room transition frequency.. If time is not an issue then it is harder to justify, even harder if they happen to like the MRC and EQ all the way up the audio band.

The MRC and EQ bandwith option should really have been included as options in the set up menu. It seems ridiculously that one has to spend $20 just to disable something that is not universally accepted as something good to begin with.

I got my boom mic stand with the adapters for both Umik and Marantz' measurement mics so I'm ready to rock. Just waiting for it to cool down. 111° right now here in Mesa. Yup, any day now...

Awesome, let us know it works out for you. My tripod worked perfectly. Very easy to use and move around. Audyssey is not so tough to set up when you pay attention and do things right.

You might laugh at me, but when I run Audyssey, and rew I stack a couple of my gel pillows at the LP. Then I use a short camera tripod for my Mics. In my little brain, the semi dense pillows mimic a human body, and therefore the sweeps and such should
correct/measure as if I’m there. I also lay a blanket across the back. I also think this lessens the bounce off the back of the couch and is basically more accurate overall. I might share some pics next time I do it.
I might be nutz...

I slouch down in my chair until the top of my head is ear level then balance the mic on top of my head while running Audyssey for the same reason!

No, not really... lol.

Well even as wacky as my idea is, I know a guy who did exactly as you just said. He attached his AUD mic to his head and slid down a bit until his mic was in place. I guess why not!
