Hsu vtf-1. Worth it?

Hey guys got a quick question as I found them in marketplace. I have a chance to get 2 vtf-1 for 200 bucks. These would replace 2 jbl pb10's. If I get them I'd sell the jbls but curious if the vrf1's are anything to him on and at that price?
Thanks

If they are in good shape, yes, I think that would be worth it, especially if they are a mk2 or mk3.

@shadyJ did a review on that sub right here.

If they're in good shape the price is definitely right. I'm not familiar with the JBLs but I am familiar with Hsu and I'm really happy with my VTF-3 MK5s. I'd be tempted to buy the 2 you found and keep the JBLs too! Quad subs!

Not sure on mk 2 or 3. I have a vtf3 mk3 and it's awesome

This one I see as just a vtf-1. Maybe one of their first. I have a feeling anything will kill my jbls lol

Here is a slightly broken page at Hsu for just a "VTF 1".

With our new models, we have given you unprecedented performance to cost ratios! This is a slightly lower powered version of the VTF-2 Mk 2, 200W instead of 250W (which translates into a 1/2 dB difference, not perceptable),but still packs more power than the original VTF-2.

I'm assuming that "2,200 watts" is really a typoed "200 watts".

There shouldn't be a space between the Mk and 2. It's not a typo, it's just bad punctuation.

3 times I read your reply and looked back up at the sentence before it sunk in and I saw it...

Oh as far as he writes they are both the same and 10 inch. My jbls a 10 inch. Once I paired my hsu vtf3 with it I never knew how pathetic my jbls we're til the hsu started pounding

I had a PB12 a long time ago. It was a good midrange sub, and good for music. But it’s a 25hz sub so mediocre for movies, and I suspect the pb10’s are probably f3 around 30hz. Weak... My guess is theHSU will easily outperform them.
FWIW, HSU has THE WORST subwoofer ID system in all of cataloging ever.

William. Not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean they don't keep good lists of what their subs specs are? If so I noticed that as well

Lol. No. What I mean is for example. The JBL’s in this conversation. PB10, PB12, it’s easy to know what those numbers mean. HSU is like mk4vtf5mk947ext69. This is the flagship compared to the mk4vt5f947ext70 midrange model.(numbers are just for effect). Why not catalog numbers that you can decipher like PB12, ultra 16, pc4000 etc. maybe I’m stoopid but it seems unnecessarily difficult.

Nope I totally agree. This vtf 1 I'm looking at as far as I can research is from 2007. I just looked at their site and they have a vtf-1 mk3 for right now. I agree the model naming is confusing. I think the jbls are good beginner subs and are from 2000. So actually getting a "real" sub will now blow the pb10's away. Hopefully!! ;)

Well just in case you are considering the HSU VTF2 MK5, I love my pair. Good luck! :)
