Help advice on legacy system

Hi,
I have a somewhat aging home theater system where I have the option to watch free to air tv & movies streamed from my Plex, dvd player etc

My Toshiba projector shat itself a while back and due to its age its no longer reparable *Toshiba ceased projectors and spares can no longer be sourced for it *Toshiba TDP-MT700, and I dont have the $ to buy a new projector - So watching on my 3 x 2M big screen is currently not an option.

The other day my set top box also shat itself. so now I cant even watch free to air tv on my alternative tv source hooked up to the same system.
My first priority would be to source a new set top box that would work for my overall setup, and this is where I started to run into problem.

My tv is connected to my home theater amp via RGB (YPbPr) cable fed through the roof space down the wall cavity, while my projector is connected via HDMI, RGB(YPbPr) going through the roof space to a different location *i,.e not possible to hook up my tv using HDMI at the moment.

My Yamaha RX-V3800 amp relies on a mix between RGB and HDMI for video and optical TOSLINK for audio.

Now here I start running into problem sourcing a new set top box!
Seem that most *if not all* set top boxes and PVR's moved away from RGB and optical audio *TOSLINK.

To get my setup to work properly I really need a set top PVR box supporting HDMI, RGB and optical.
As for a replacement projector I am tossing with the idea of buying a Optoma UHD60. Its a 4K projector with one 4K HDMI and one standard HDMI port - Would be nice if I could get the 4K to work, but doubt it will since all appliances along the chain need to be 4K compatible *where I guess my Yamaha RX-V3800 amp is the first to fail this test.

What would my best option be here? Again, I dont have the $ to buy a new amp, so for now I just have to suck it in and find a way that would allow both my tv and future projector setup to work along with optical TOSLINK for sound.

Any suggestions?

Correct. The only option in your situation is a used unit. The TiVo Premiere Series 4 TCD746320 and TCD746500 are good options that can be had on ebay for reasonable prices.

Hm, Would this unit work across the Australian free to air tv channels or?

I have also stumbled across two versions by STRONG that still seem to be sold.
Strong SRT6500 & SRT7014
Received really bad reviews though, so hesitate going down that path, but wonder if this still could be an option?

Failing all of this, what is my best option otherwise?
Like, assume I spend $ on feeding another HDMI to where my TV sits which means I can use HDMI on both tv and projector. Problem here as I see it, is that these set top boxes only have one HDMI output. So what would be the option on this?

Can’t really advise you on Australian gear, but the 7014 looks like what you want (the 6500 adds a bluray player, which is just more complexity – just get a separate blu ray player).

Just make sure the unit you end up with has connections for a TV antenna.

Alternately, you could try to ebay a used set top box like the one you have now (the one that “shat itself”).
