No, you wouldn't get any noticeable audio improvement by switching to the 8500. If you want improvement, and it all depends on what speakers you already have, you would notice an improvement if you had more capable speakers. If you don't already have a sub in your system, adding one or preferably two capable subwoofers would make a difference in the overall performance.

The only reason I'd go from my 4520 to the 8500 is if I had 4k/Atmos goals, which I don't. Otherwise that 8500 looks pretty sweet. I'd only expect SQ improvements in the dsp for the extra channels, tho.
