So, recently, both my NAD C372 and Behringer EP2000 started exhibiting peculiar behavior. On startup, the NAD would emit a brief (2-3 secs) hum or buzz. And, the built-in breaker on the Behringer would trip, although not all the time. I don't believe in coincidences, so I figured the two phenomena were related.
I use a Woods Smart Strip to supply power to both amps. The NAD is plugged into the controller outlet, while the Behringer is plugged into one of the switched outlets, so that it powers up when the NAD is turned on. This setup has worked perfectly for several years.
I opened up both amps to try to see if there was any visual indication of what the problem(s) might be. They both looked mint - to my untrained eye anyway.
Luckily, the problem made itself known a couple of days ago, when the Behringer remained on after the NAD was switched off, meaning the switched outlets were staying powered up when they should have powered down. I happened to have another Smart Strip on hand, so I swapped out the old strip for the new one. Fortunately, that appears to have resolved the issues and both amps are working perfectly again.
That is all. You may return to your regularly scheduled programming.
