Subwoofer hook up

Is it ok to wye, to both left and right input, on my sub's?, running from life on my receiver, i see it's only necessary to run to left input on subwoofer, i am using eye connect, to both left and right on my sub's, sounds fine, just wondering if it's ok

Do you have an active sub amp built into the sub box? Usually you would hook LFE output from receiver to LFE input on built in active sub amp.

The receiver may say Sub/LFE out.

Normally one Sub/LFE output is used for each external sub amp input, 1 rca type interconnect or XLR interconnect.

Yes, subs have active amplifiers, running from sub out /life out on receiver, i have read on this site, that one/left is usually used, however, they say it won't hurt/or shouldn't affect sound if, eye, cra into both inputs, right/left on subwoofer, will it affect crossover, i have several hooked up, hate to rewire everything, or could I just unplug, right side cra on wye and tape it off, or is it a big deal?

If you have two amps say one for each sub then use a wire for each and update your receiver setting to send the duplicate signal to the second sub.

It isn’t necessary to use both receiver sub/LFE outputs to only one amp.

If your sub amp is driving your main speakers as well then you should use a stereo rca to the amp and wire the mains to the left and right outputs for stereo sound.

The subs will play in mono as they should.

It would likely only increase the input gain. Won’t effect anything.

If you have only one sub output and your sub has a L/R input, then you can use a "Y" connector to use both inputs although I wouldn't expect an audible difference over using only one input.

I hooked one subwoofer as you suggested, to left, on my powered subwoofer, i seem to notice tighter deeper bass, using single cable, from life sub out from receiver, my next question is, since all my subwoofers, are all ready wired with long Wye cables, could i use short wye connectors, example, two female rca x one male rca, and then input into single left input, i assume, this would then join the signal, back to a single signal, wich i would input to left, on my subwoofers, rather than running all new cables, alot of trouble, it seems to me, it would have the same effect as one cable then, hope that was clear. Thanks

The fewer cables and "Y" connectors involved, the better off you are.

Using a Y cable increases the gain slightly.

That’s only useful if you are having trouble with the sub “auto on” feature not triggering on.

I've read about the Y-cable subwoofer "auto on" trick, but never tried that myself, but subwoofer not turning on at lower volumes was a bit of an annoyance. But when I bought new subwoofers I made sure they had a 12V trigger

I never had this issue with Rythmik subs but ran into it with other subs including HSU, and the trick does work.

The "old" SVS12-NSD is currently sitting under my desk and the crossover at 80Hz (via the sub) is useful as my small Focal XS Book desktop speakers are really that, small. For once bass management settings would make sense, if they where available.

The subwoofer auto on is still not great (perhaps I will try the Y-cable trick at last) so currently I just turn the volume up on my DAC of a second or so
