Advice on subwoofer for Audio and HT

Let me break it down:

Music
NA11S1 network player connected to PM8005 amp purely for music only.
How does one connect a subwoofer?

Movies
AVR connected to PM8005 switched to Power Amp Direct mode for Front L/R speakers. Subwoofer connected via LFE. Simples.

Is it possible to connect a subwoofer to the PM8005 like a REL does? Using High Level Input connected via speaker terminals.
REL also uses the LFE connection to AVR for best of both worlds.

Reading more and more, my only option is LFE via AVR, but no music option.

There is another way you can connect these things. The NA11S1 has analogue outputs. If you get a sub that has RCA stereo inputs and an LFE input, then you can have both systems connected to one sub. Otherwise you are forced to get the Rel which does accommodate high level and line level inputs simultaneously. You could get a small mixer or an adapter to make this work. For example, you can use the XTZ SUB 1X12 but sending the line level outputs of the network player to this thing which converts the levels for a balanced XLR connection, and then plug that into the XLR input on the XTZ 1X12. Then use the LFE outputs from your AVR to connect to the RCA inputs on the 1X12.

There are other connectivity schemes you can use to use subs other than the Rel.

I assumed you were using the balanced outputs from the network server to go to the amplifier. But you could use one of the balanced outputs to go to the subwoofer. You would only be getting on channel of sound to the sub, but most music has subwoofer band frequencies recorded in mono anyway.

Just remember to NOT use as splitter to combine channels that go into an input! (unless you get a mixer)

And yes, you can use the LFE from your NR1606 to go to the sub's RCA LFE input.

I spoke to Marantz Technical Support today and can confirm this is not possible with the NA-11S1

Still leaning towards the REL T9i (or BK) for music/High Level Input and a seperate subwoofer for movies/LFE connection to NR1606

Did they offer a particular reason? I don't trust guys you easily get on the phone at these companies whatsoever....

Yeah messing with the sub level on the sub itself all the time would be a pain. I was thinking the NA11s1, when I posted the question, was an pre-amp for some reason until I re-read your OP.
