Hello

i am upgrading my dedicated home theater and need some power amps.

EQUIPMENT
-marantz 7705 preamp running a 7.2.4 channel
-LCR behind acoutic transparent screen
-JTR NOESIS 228HT L-C-R 98db sensitity 70hz cross http://jtrspeakers.com/noesis-228ht.html
-JTR 8HT 95db sensitivity surround channels 80hz cross http://jtrspeakers.com/single-8ht-lp.html
-2 captivator 2400 subwoofers
-atmos speakers still looking to purchase (maybe klipsch)

ROOM
-use will be 85% movies and show watching / 15% music listening
-2 row of seats
-1st row to front wall speakers 12feet
-2nd row to front wall speakers 18feet
-side and back surrounds average 9 feet from listening position
-listening levels will be reference

i currently have an Emotiva XPA Gen1 5 channel amp i thinking for the ceiling atmos speakers.

Was thinking outlaw mono amps for all 7 JTR channels.

Would you recommend something better for JTR speakers ?

There's a HT calculator other members have mentioned often, but I don't know the link myself. I'm sure someone will chime in. With the high sensitivity of those JTR's I personally think Outlaw monoblocks are overkill, unless you want to go real deaf real fast. My speakers are about 10dB less efficient than yours and I can't wring all the power out of those amps and be in the same room (other than for transient bass peaks). Extra headroom never hurt though, and the 2200's are certainly a great product.

Thanks for the link

How about a marantz mm8807. To drive the JTR?

Might be overkill, but the Outlaw 2200s, for me, have been great. That said, you don’t really need more than 32-64 watts to clear reference level dynamic peaks, pad that for some extra headroom because you can... That Outlaw 5000 might be a good option, too. ;)

Though I like Marantz, and that will likely do fine covering your needs, its wattage rating is for 2-channels driven, so if you run all seven, you can only speculate what maximum power you might see in the most taxing moments. ;) If 7-channels is a need, maybe the 7000x?
But there's nothing wrong with a small herd of 2200's! I have 5. :)
Happy hunting!

-JTR NOESIS 228HT L-C-R 98db sensitity 70hz cross http://jtrspeakers.com/noesis-228ht.html
-JTR 8HT 95db sensitivity surround channels 80hz cross http://jtrspeakers.com/single-8ht-lp.html
Interested to know, how are you liking these speakers for HT? Have you owned any other speakers to compare them to?

PS I think ryansour nailed it, the 7000x would be your best bang for buck. If you want to go a bit fancier, consider doing two or three mono blocks for the L/R and or Center and go for cheap amplification on the surrounds. Since your listing to 15% music I'd wouldn't go with the fancy route. Also the Monolith got great reviews:

You must, be excited. Post an update on AH when you get your system set up. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the JTR speakers.

Randomly, you could consider some emotiva amps, too. good prices and people have been happy with them.

It'd work, but with the separate amp thing I'd probably at least go for a Monolith 7ch, maybe the Emotiva version. I just don't need such an amp and have some I don't even use...

So...
Have fun with that. And I thought maybe I was silly for having 5! :p

Seriously cool, though. Wish I had that problem. Sort of. ;)

I would recommend using the music sense on everything but the front three... and trigger those in a daisy chain. Outlaw Ben said for me, I probably shouldn't daisy chain more than 3 off one trigger out. ;)

I was expecting a different response because i know its a little (a lot) crazy for buying 11 outlaw m2200. Its way overkill for atmos and

But here is my reasoning
-i like overkill..lol
-no crosstalk
-low noise floor
-simpler internals
-a/b
...basically all mono-block type advantages
-if 1 fails cinema stays operational during repairs
-very little extra cost between 7 x outlaw m2200 and 1 x 7000x

No complaints from me! Hell, you might never use more than 2-4w per speaker for most of those!
But you will need some outlets and good circuits! ;)

Brief moment between things: ;) Indeed, I like that I have each speaker powered by its own amp. For me, I was mostly just wanting to match my Front3 and Surrounds as I'm exploring 5-channel audio. (Feels like I might've said that earlier, too.)
Regardless, replacement cost for one channel is low, and lets face it... depending on your other speakers, at least for the JTRs, you will not be taxing these amps: they should *knocks-on-wood... last a good little while.
Mine are on 85dB sensitive speakers, so I do push them a bit further than you will. They are still very cool compared to my AVR, and by touch, after some good usage, have only been slightly warm.

I hope your experience with these is at least as good as mine, so far. :D

Do you have them on a 12v triggered power strip ?

Also do you have all 3 on same 15amp breaker ?
