Will it sound better then my Yamaha rx683?
I’m currently looking for a receiver on a budget that can achieve 7.2.4 and stumbled upon this pioneer VSX-LX503, been reading reviews and can’t find anything bad about it?

Right now I can get it from frys for $549 no tax and free shipping and my buy it finger is getting itchy... but before I do I’d like some free back from some pros :) so I come here to ask

I bought it, price was to good to pass up.

And suggestions on an amp to power 2 atmos speakers would be appreciated tho :)

As for sound quality, the Pioneer won't sound any better than the Yamaha or any other AVR, but it should sound as good.

Thx for your reply,
I really wanted a denon 4500, but at this price point I couldn’t resist getting into 7.1.4 for under $700 including amp.

Sound quality should be similar to any Yamaha, Sony, Denon, or Marantz.

Yeah it’s 120w per channel, sound a vision did a review and ran all channels at once and measured it held 90w per channel.
S&V did? I couldn't find it when I Googled.

It just listed what Pioneer says, not actual test bench measurement.

But regardless, $549 is a great price for an 11Ch-Processor-AVR.

I doubt anyone can find a Yamaha 11Ch-Processor-AVR for anywhere near this price. The Yamaha RX-A3070 is on sale for $1300, the RX-A3080 is on sale for $1600 (reg price is $2,000).

Andrew, I read the review on that unit, it says stable down to 2 ohms? Impressive seems like a nice unit. I do like the Yellow front display I've always found it easier to read than green that ever other AVR has which in my case I've always found that green display cheesy.

Just did a look see, very nice AVR! Has a ton of stuff on it. For under 6 bills yeah good buy for sure. I definitely like the yellow display on the front good-looking unit.

"I ran a full-frequency test tone with all channels driven. You know what? Not bad at all. The amplifiers manage to produce 90 watts for each channel when all channels were driven at the same time."

So this guy is saying the he was able to measure ALL NINE Channels Simultaneously? I've never even seen anyone measure more than 7Ch simultaneously.

He didn't say anything about THD% or Impedance, etc.

I wonder what @PENG thinks of this review? :D

I thought WiFi-hifi was a reputable reviewer?
Or is that another place with a similar name?

Let's see what PENG or others think. The wording seems a little sketchy. He made it sound like he measured all 9Ch simultaneously (? impedance, ?THD) when I've never even seen Gene or anyone else measure more than 7Ch simultaneously.

Any charts or other test bench data?

I've never read their reviews.

But again, regardless, Pioneer has been a very good company for a long time. If they make a 9Ch-amp AVR with 11Ch-processing, I have faith it will have sufficient power and will sound great. :D

My comment was only regarding the Wifi-Hifi review, which doesn't show any Test Bench data.

Yep, I did do a look see on some of the reviews, some Owners are experiencing firmware issues. It is last year's model, Best Buy is selling it for 699.00.

What's Fry's Return policy on this? If they allow the 30-day return, I say get it and try it out. You can always return.

I think it will have enough power and sound quality. The only thing I am not as confident about is reliability, especially since Pioneer and Onkyo are owned by the same company.

But if the warranty is 3YR, I think $550 is good for 3YR. Probably should last longer.
