1. BenQ vs Optoma

2. Yamaha vs Denon
I had a flagship Optoma projector in the past. Bought it brand new. I had to send that Optoma into repair 3 times within 1 year under warranty. So I would never buy another Optoma.

I think I've had my BenQ W6000 projector for about 8 years now. Works perfectly.

Yamaha is supposed to be #1 in reliability and HDMI compatibility.

I had a lot of problems with my Optoma as well. I would not buy Optoma again unless there were strong indications that their reliability had gone way up. My Mitsubishi HC5 is solid as a rock though. It's a shame Mitsubishi doesn't make projectors anymore, I would definitely buy another one if they did.

CG23s should be fine at that distance unless you intend to play them loud.[/QUOT

I would typically use it for movie and sometimes to play music.

If not RSL what other speaker system you would recommend in the 1000-1200 $ price range??

I have reserved a Klipsch RC 62 II and RF 82 II at frys as was getting good deal. But think the towers would look too big with my setup so not to keen.

Also getting RP 160M pair for 400$

Any advice on which one is better RF82 or RP160M. Or should not even consider klipsch in comparison to the RSLs.

I’m not saying Klipsch is right or wrong since it is up to you, but RSL speakers might be a better bet for music if you are more than a movie guy.. As far as subs, I would go for the HSU VTF2 over the RSL speed woofer. Good luck! :)

Klipsch is a good choice. The RP speakers are smoother than the Reference speakers. I don't know how they really compare with the RSL speakers, although they are probably going to have a wider dynamic range, i.e., if you like to play stuff loud, they will be more capable in that respect.

If your room is big, or if you are seated a good distance away from the speaker's position, you might think about getting something a bit more powerful. this will help you to hear the sound from you away
His room is not very big - about 12' x 18'.

I bet most rooms are about 15' x 18' or no bigger than 18' x 20', which isn't that big.

Most people probably sit about 10-12' away from the speakers.

Back when I was looking for 4,000-5,000 SF houses, I always wanted to check out the houses with a "dedicated HT room". And it seems like all of them have rooms that are about 16x19 or 16x20.

One of my friend has a 4,000SF house with a dedicated HT room. It's 15' x 19'.

So "big" HT rooms seem to be extremely rare, at least until you get into the damn-rich-people's houses. :D
