Recommendation for speakers for Home Theatre Setup

This is my first home theatre setup. I will be using my game room upstairs to set up my home theatre.

I would appreciate if the users/experts can respond with recommendations.

Projector -
Benq HT 3550 vs optoma uhd50

AV Receiver -
Yamaha TSR-7580 7.2 from Costco

Is this a good option or I should opt for Denon brand?

Due to the room placement I cannot mount bookshelf speakers at the back of the room so planning for 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 center channel and 2 in-ceiling speaker and a sub for my speaker setup. My budget is 1000 to 1200$ price range.

I am considering the below RSL setup..
1) RSL 5.1 setup.. cg23 3.1 for 899 + C34E in-ceiling for 125each = total of 1149$


I need some help from experts to determine what would be my best combination for the price range for speakers.

The RSL speakers look nice, but keep in mind it is not a high SPL system. If your room is big, or if you are seated a good distance away from the speaker's position, you might think about getting something a bit more powerful.

Not sure if you're trying to buy everything from one spot. If not, Crutchfield has some pretty good deals on the Elac Debut 2.0 series. You could get your LCR with (2) Debut B5.2 and (1) Debut C5.2 for ~$350, get a pair of in ceilings for about $200/pr, then grab a HSU VTF-2 MK5 subwoofer that would absolutely crush that Speedwoofer. Same price.

I think @shadyJ might agree with the assessment on the HSU vs the Speedwoofer, and he's a good man (read: one of the best) to ask about subs.

For your room, the RSL CG23s would probably be fine, so long as you aren't sitting far from them. For good speakers for low prices, Accessories4less has lots of great deals on Canton, Boston Acoustics, Focal, Polk speakers. JBL.com has some good deals going on right now as well. Hsu has a sale on their HB-1 speakers.

I highly recommend, Do your Own research, recommendations are what they are. Only You can make a educated decision with your own research. Find reviews on the gear you are inquiring about good and bad. Read up on the gear your Interested in. In the end you'll have a much better understanding and with no buyer's remorse. This audio/video is very subjective indeed, in which many have wasted a lot of money. Remember audio/video gear depreciates very fast in value. You do not have to spend a ton of money to achieve your goal. On forums you'll find a ton of different opinions on gear how to set it up what likes or dislikes others have. With research done on your own will give you a much better understanding than anyone on the internet can ever give you.

Thanks for the response. I would he sitting probably 11 to 12 ft distance from the speakers will that make a huge difference with rsl cg23s?

Thanks for the response. The options you provided are pretty good in price point. From what I have read about ELAC is that its good if you listen to a lot of music and prefer a "warm" presentation. Not the ideal choice for someone like me whose primary usage for HT setup would be movies. Not sure how true is that ??

You should consider rear speakers before ceiling speakers. What is blocking the ability to get rear speakers in your space? You can also put rear speakers to the sides rather than behind.

The back of the room is at an angle of the the roofline(see pic attached) so the guy that is going to help me run power etc told me will be difficult to run wires through that. Also my understanding would it not be too low and close to the seating area if I place on that back corner wall?

I'd take a look at the JBL deals on Newegg right now. I do agree that brighter sounding speakers lend themselves to movies. I also believe in eq'ing so I can get brighter sound if needs be- hence my Paradigm setup. There are links to the JBL sales in the Deals Deals Deals forum. BTW- Crutchfield also has the Klipsch RP 160M for $400/pr right now, which is a pretty smokin' deal.

I looked long and hard at those RSL's. The deal breaker was their low end limitations, all around. The speakers only reaching down to 85hz wasn't adequate for what I was looking for. The sub, while very highly regarded and undoubtedly great for music, doesn't plumb the depths that HT begs for. I have a HSU VTF-3 and I just cannot speak highly enough of the brand ( I also have an SVS, and it's a good product but it doesn't hold a candle).

I think most will agree that for immediate enjoyment in an HT setup, the subwoofer should be the biggest priority, sound wise

Remember that surround speakers are supposed to be on the sides more then behind you. Its something like 90 to 110 degrees so its to the side or to the side and slightly behind in the dolby specifications. Which means you dont place them at the back of the room for a 5.1 setup.

I think, generally speaking, the tonality of products across the Klipsch spectrum will be "similar enough" for HT. The horn in the RP series was redesigned to warm it up a tad. I chose my Paradigms over the RP's because I liked the sound just a little bit better for music. The RP's were more pronounced in the upper mid-range to high frequencies. Long story short- the RPs are great and didn't fatigue me. Klipsch and JBL are probably the two most ubiquitous brands in HT.

CG23s should be fine at that distance unless you intend to play them loud.
