I have this set up with a L/R/ Center speakers. I have them wired to the terminals on back for same, not using the surround sound teminal for L/R. When I stream Hulu/Netflix the center channel is active and sounds fine, but when I stream Pandora through Roku the center channel is also active and I am under the impression it should not be? When I play vinyl it does not energize the center channel. I have the sound set up in the yamaha menu to decode sound set on auto.

Any idea why the signal for pandora through roku is energizing the center channel?

Thanks.

Do you stream netflix etc through the roku also?
Either way just choose stereo when you listen to music and change to a surround mode when netflix etc. if you use the roku for more then just pandora.

I get my video and pandora throught Roku. I really don't want to use the cell phone app to play pandora through my yamaha. I would prefer not to have to change settings in Roku or in yamaha. I have Roku set on auto detect, but it is set in dolby etc... Any way to set it up so I don't have to manually switch? With my dennon pandora software was loaded so no issue. thanks Brian

Not sure you can, sound mode is probably per input so if you want 2 channel on tv programs and such to run as dolby surround then i think you will have to manually change, its probably very easy with the remote but if what you are watching is multi channel and pandora just stereo then it might work if you select stereo when pandora is running and it might hop to dolby digital for example when multichannel content is played.

What yamaha did do is put a "straight" button on the front of the receiver. I can stream pandora through roku and after I have it playing hit the straight button it converts it to stereo. now all I have to figure out is how to program my universal remote to do this! thanks Brian

Same as the denon/marantz direct then, if it works the same way that bypasses room correction and bass management.
On the denon/marantz remotes the green/red/blue/yellow buttons give fast and easy access to sound modes like stereo/dolby surround and so on, the yellow button is direct. Not sure if its the same on your yamaha.

What bitrate does the Roku send the Pandora? I’m going to add a Roku for Netflix DD+ Atmos (my GF hates the Apple 4K TV controls). :)

The older Yamaha remotes had a “straight” button but I believe they updated the remote last year. I have the 2060.

The 3080 remote has a Straight button but I’m not sure if it’s the exact same remote the 780 comes with.
