So my Xbox One X plays CDs, huh? Still I only have but a handful of CDs anymore. Is there high quality downloadable content?
The xbox probably can play CDs so you can try that and see if you hear a difference between it and spotify. The quality of recording vary enormously so the best tip is actually just to enjoy what you like. It may be better sound quality on cd or higher rez but it might not also, it depends on what you are listening to and can easily differ between records/releases/remasters and so on. If spotify works great for you then use it. Even at the highest quality they provide is a lossy compression but many dont hear the difference, and some who do actually prefer it.

Agree. Ya so CD is about 5 times the bandwidth of mp3 but streaming services are so fun and convenient. I only buy certain CDs that I want to listen to all the way through over and over. :)

What exactly is lossless audio anyway?
Its an audio file (cd/stream etc) which hasnt been through a compression algorithm that discards some of the data.
Mp3 (or other similar formats used/youtube/spotify etc.) has gone through a compression which also discards some of the sound data to get a smaller file size so it takes up less storage and data amount needed to be streamed.
FLAC among others are compression formats that reduce size of files but retains all the data.

Steelers,

Here's what happens when you put a CD into XBox One X

I have quite a few FLAC tunes. If you want, PM me a few artists / Songs you like, along with an email address and I'll see if I have them. If they are small enough, I may be able to email one to you. You can then put it on a USB stick and plug it into the front of your receiver.
