If anyone out there has listen to monolith amp, and a parasound amp. Is there an audible difference and would I notice the difference on my klipsch reference premiere setup, main avr will be $1000 marantz as a processor. Thank you for input. Looking to purchase amp soon.

Not just Monolith vs. Parasound, but all accurate high quality amps (20Hz-20kHz +/- 0.1-0.2dB) in the same power class (able to power the same speakers) will NOT sound different when they are playing at the SAME volume.

If the sound is significantly different, then it is due to difference in Volume or EQ/DSP or setup or just bias.

Most people "compare" amps and other things from memory, which is not reliable.

I have owned Parasound amps for a very long time. I currently own the A51 and the A31 and I'm very pleased with the sound, separation, and clarity. Can't say I've heard the Monolith before. In my town there is a home theater shop that carries a variety of different brand amplifiers. I was fortunate enough to take the time to listen to many amps before I made my decision. They even made sure I listened to the amps on the Processor and speakers that I own. To me, you have to like what you hear. In the end, your the only one that matters. After all, its your money!

Didnt hear any of the last 3 amps I purchased. Still haven't heard them. They do amplify my speakers well.

In reality, the main difference is that the Balanced XLR connectors are a lot more secure (locking) and cooler looking than the unbalanced RCA connectors. :D

On the test bench, sometimes the Balanced outputs have better SNR. For example when Gene measured the Yamaha MX-A5000 Amp, the SNR @ 1w for the unbalanced was 115dBA vs. 118dBA for the balanced. However, you can't hear the difference between 115dB vs 118dB.

In the pro-audio world, balanced connectors will help reduce hum noise when using very long cable lengths. But in the consumer audio world, the cables are usually not that long.

In my own system, I use only Balanced XLR cables.

Too bad they don't make Balanced HDMI and Balanced Ethernet cables. :D

And also they can be a little more resistant against interference from the cable mess so many of us have behind the av equipment shelves/rack/table.

Oh come on now. You're not going to play the amp-sound game?

One amp has better "separation" (you could easily tell because one amp has a crosstalk of -80dB and the other amp has a crosstalk of -90dB).

One amp has deeper, faster, more impactful bass (you could easily tell because one amp has a Damping Factor of 500 and the other amp has a Damping Factor of 100).

One amp has sweeter, smoother, more chocolatey treble (you could easily tell because one amp has a Slew Rate of 15 V/micro sec and the other amp has a Slew Rate of 30 V/micro sec). :D

It could also be related to price or category of the amp - you know how more expensive amps sound much better and Integrated Amps will always sound better than amps inside AVR. ;)
