New house, new setup, new WIFE, need advice!

I don't know what your capabilities are but if you need to hide a sub and all other options are not SWMBO approved then this sub is quite good.
I have one in my master bedroom under the bed. I had to turn it down almost all the way, too much sub for my tiny room. It isn't as smooth as my Daytons but not much is. You can also do the same as me and just install it and not say anything like I did :D My wife didn't know it was there for weeks!
If it is entirely hidden (like mine) it can look hideous so don't worry about your finishing skills on the DIY.
Yes I have looked and considered a low profile sub but wasn't sure I would get the response I need. It also will have to be wireless. My polls ran wirelessly here in my current house with little difficulty with consistently being connected.

The Hsu's are very good speakers for the price. The reason why I recommend them is because they don't splash sound everywhere like typical 1" dome speakers on a flat baffle. The horn loading controls its directivity pretty nice, and allows for a lower crossover point for the tweeter. In your situation, that may be beneficial, since there is bound to be a lot of acoustic problems. Your intended placement is not idea for any speaker, but narrow directivity ones like the Hsu speakers may be more able to cope with those conditions than typical designs.
I will place them flush to where they meet thee wall sitting in the shelves which are at least two feet deep. My problem is I need to get back over to the house for proper measurements.

Depending on budget, you can look at in wall subs to place under sofa or in wall.

Good Lord can not upload a pic. Will try again later. Sorry guys
Go into your phone settings and try to turn down the quality of the picture to a lower resolution then take pictures and upload again I had the same issue my phone was taking the pictures in a resolution that created a file to large to upload on the site. When I took pictures in a lower resolution I was able to upload

I'm trying to think when that has ever happened! :D
Yeah My heart agrees with you Ryan but my mind?..... Well I'm going with Kvn on this one! :D

On a serious note is there a place in the house that you could claim as a man cave your own room that you could turn into a music slash home theater area if possible?

That way your both happy.

Or all all the rooms hers?..... Lol just teasing :D

I don’t know ... the way I see this work is starting from both viewpoints and work out a solution. Is her ideal setup a 2.0 sound over wireless earbuds? Try both to watch movies that way then discuss pros/cons. I exaggerated a bit, I know, but the idea is to start the conversation, instead of sticking to your own ideas of what works. I tried with and without a sub, and now we know why we want to accept that a sub is part of the decor to stay. Same with just fronts (3.1) vs adding surrounds for a 5.1. We tried a 7.1 but decided to take the rears out (added to the office as another 2.0) as the difference was not worth, all this subjective to room+source+ears, of course.

This is less of a technical problem in my opinion, and may not be different from choosing the movie to watch or music to listen to. Compromise is not a bad thing, it keeps us interacting with positive results.

Best of luck with your decisions, enjoy your setup!

Tv room. Open to kitchen which is behind.

The ipad would not allow an upload. My phone would not allow an uplaod. I had to take a pic using my phone of it displayed on my ipad.

Never in my life has anything made less sense.

Her dad has always had theater rooms and the current one is phenomenal so she is used to great setups however she said she doesn't need all that?!?!?!

She is good woth speakers n the shelf and if I can hide a subwoofer.

We do have an upstairs loft which my older son will sadly occupy and kill my theater room dreams.

The ideal setup will be a 2.1 or 2.2 system.
I do have the loft which will be upgraded to a theater loft in probably two years. Then I can go 9 channels.

Well since 2 channel is the best route right I'd go like Shady said with JBL or Klipsch your gonna need a type of speaker design that can handle the place in the shelves your sticking them on those are good brands to deal with that

Still worth considering the hsu’s... Shady’s recommendations are golden imo. When he chimes in: listen. :)

The JBLs are bound to have a much wider dispersion than Hsu or Klipsch. The JBLs are using a waveguide, but it isn't quite the same.

How did this not say "gear and fiancee"?!?
Haha. No way. She is a 10 though. No joke. I feel like I'm living an alternate reality, or died and am in limbo Ha.

I need a new 4K receiver. Going with Sony 65 900f. Unless I can find a good 70".

The jbl's I found are monitors. Are these what you are talking about?
