Receiver advice please

I'm looking for a 5.1.2 receiver in the max $650 range would prefer less it will be for 95 percent movies the room is around 3300 cubic feet if that helps it's a shared room no windows the screen is 135in I would like to pair it with SVS satellites and a monoprice monolith 10 what I'm using right now is a Logitech thx 2.1 computer speaker system which I'm VERY impressed with I only say this so you can understand it doesn't take much to impress me. For now my connections will be a direct TV box and PS4 and would like a little room for more in the future. I was thinking about an Onkyo RZ820 but I'm not as versed with all the fine details and the knowledge base of this forum and would love some feedback. Are there better choices in a Denon or Yamaha or Pioneer?

Simply: make certain the feature sets match your needs. # hdmi ports, do you need analog inputs, Dolby vision, hdr, amp power ind impedance for driving your speakers...
The brands you mentioned should all serve you well.
Check for deals on last years models... Marantz sr5012, comparable Denon, etc. if you are ok with refurbished, accessories for less is a good place to check out.

I've had my RZ820 for about 7 months and it's been great. It was a huge upgrade from my 2009 HK. It was almost like getting new speakers, plus it's easy to use with IMO a very nice GUI (for an AVR).

AccuEq is the first EQ I've used so I can't say whether it's better or worse than others in my room with my speakers. My HK had something called EzSet EQ but I'm pretty sure it just set distance and levels.

Anyway the RZ820 is a nice receiver with a lot of power and it doesn't run hot.

A New Denon 3400 or Yamaha RX-A770 on sale. Amazon is a good place to buy. You can double box at checkout for a few dollars.

If you plan to do power hungry tower speakers, the price will be above your budget for a Denon 4400 or Yamaha RX-A2070. Good luck!

When you say "room for more", do you mean more speakers like 5.1.4 or 7.1.2?

To get 9Ch (5.1.4 or 7.1.2) you would have to spend more than $650, unless you buy used.

Personally, I would stick to 1) Yamaha, 2) Sony, 3)Denon/Marantz and stay away from Onkyo. I don't know about Pioneer reliability, but I wonder with Onkyo and Pioneer now being owned by the same company.

The Yamaha RX-V683 retails $650 and is on sale on Amazon for $350. It's Dynamic Power Output is 235 Watts x 2Ch into 2 ohms.

Setting your bookshelf speakers to small and letting your subwoofer do the heavy bass lifting should be good for the AVR.

I think a lot of people are tempted by the Denon X3400 on Amazon for $599 new (retail $1000).

I think Fry's has an in-store sale of the X3500 for around $539 that ends tomorrow.

Ha when I said room for more I was talking about additional HDMI's not channels and looking at the specs on those receivers they have plenty sorry for the confusion. I want to say thank you all for your input you have helped me narow my choice. I'm now leaning very hard towards the Denon x3400 just checking the specs on Crutchfield I'm really liking the 3 year warranty over the 2 years for the Yamaha. I'm in Maryland so no Fry's for me but I need to check one more place to get the specs and that would be Costco people keep talking about a nice Yamaha they have there for a good price so I'll have to figure out what my specific Costco sell and go from there. If anyone has additional input feel free to post thanks again!
