Plug em in and enjoy! :D

OK. Do you already have subwoofers? If yes: what are they? Do they have a pass-through option?
If No...
How big is the room you are going to be using. Need room volume pls: lxwxh
Is the room open to other areas or closed off?

Lets start there, please... and then can discuss options. Hint: it will involve that pass through option... or y-splitters.

Im running 2x Yamaha YST-RSW300 at the moment but I have the option of buying 2 x Yamaha NS-SW300 at a great price. My room size is 25f (w) x34f (l) x 9f (h). And my current set up is a Yamaha RX-V2085 running 2 x NS-777 and a Ns-444 up front with 4X NS-333 for surrounds and rears I'm also looking at 2x ceiling speakers for Dolby Atmos but that's for another discussion

Thats a pretty d@mn good size room. 7650'3
I should ask, probably, are you here in the States? (availability)
Next... budget?

So, have you checked out information on subwoofer set up? Especially the Bassaholics guide here? All of the subs reviewed here usually get a rating for the size room they can handle. A helpful starting place. In terms of actually setting up multiple subs, there is a lot more than just plug and play involved to make them play nice in your room... BUT ITS WORTH IT! :)

OK: Most of the subs that get recommended are very good subs for a pretty reasonable price. For your room size, I definitely would recommend ported subs, as they will tend to have higher output, and can dig a little deeper in frequency. You will need to consider some good size subs,13-15". Likewise, I think all of these are good as multi-use subs... music and HT.

Depending on the sub, and the connections it has, you will either be daisy chaining one sub to the first one plugged into each of your sub pre-outs, or you will have to split the pre-out with a Y and then run the cabling for all subs... but still two per sub channel.

Thanks Ryanosaur for your info I'm in Australia In far North Queensland so It can be hard to get good quality audio products here.
So if I wanted to get the Ns-sw300's I would have to use a 2 x Y splitter yes?

***accidently hit Post...
There are others... like PSA... and then if you really want to shoot the moon: Funk, Deep Sea, Seaton, JTR...

So much will depend on your budget though.

What I will urge you to consider is the long game approach: Do not skimp on the subwoofers. Buy at least the best 2 you can allow yourself to afford now, and buy two more down the line. But make certain they match... different subs will not necessarily play well together. But, you may find you only need two subs, too. If two subs is too much now, buy the best single sub, and add to it later. ;)

I am still 'rocking' an undersized sub in our greatroom. it is nowhere near powerful enough for >8000'3. Not even close. But it still makes sound. But 1 really good sub is better than 4 or 6 crappy subs. No doubt about it.

I'm not going to try to get into placement and set up. That's a conversation for another time. ;) And should involve people with more experience than I. I would gladly give you the 1st grade version, but its a much bigger topic than that!

Hope this all helps get you on your way!
Don't be afraid to ask more questions!
And Happy Hunting!!!

Yeah that is a huge room mines a little bigger but not by too much

Although I do agree that better subs would help out greatly in that room I get your situation where with shipping and limited availability you may not be able to get something better right now in your budget right now

So if the Yamahas are what work best for your budget then get them. Yes you will need Y splitters I don't think those Yamaha subs have pass throughs. I used a splitter on an old Denon reciever I had in my bedroom that only had one sub out worked just fine.

Can you get anything bigger? ;) (And no, I'm not in Texas.)

You can make good inroads on pressurizing your listening area by using near-field placements... closer to you.

If you have the ability to shop a little... and see if there is anything a little better, it might behoove you considering the size of your room. But if you are truly that limited, then you gotta do what you gotta do!

Now with those, you could put two up front with your speakers and run the speaker level connections, then run the other two from the subwoofer pre-outs in a near field placement. that might be a good option.

Or, yes, split the Sub 1 and sub 2 at the preout, and connect to the LFE in on each sub (or use another y plugged into the l/r line ins instead of the lfe in... which will give you a slight signal boost... I think that will work even with the split signal from the pre-out).

Like I said... If you can get better subs, It will pay out big time! You can make these work, but it will require some craftiness in how you place them. :)

Also the Rhythmik FV18's in a room that size might be a good option depending on what the OP is budgeting I think it sounds like he's going for the Yamahas because they work good for what he wants to spend tho

Seems like your path is set. ;) My only words at this point are to just be aware... Low frequency operates differently than your higher frequency speakers. Hence the question about room volume. Your other speakers are more about distance. Before you buy, do some simple reading online about setting up multiple subs and how they interact with the room. I just want you to be prepared for what you are working with.

And there is this thing called the subwoofer crawl. Well worth exploring. Just keep your mind... And EARS... open. I learned a lot about LF and my room doing this. Have some Pink Noise, LF Test Tone, and some good music with true LF in it that you know really well. It took me a few crawls around my room, but with some music, I started getting it and it all came together. Places with nulls where you lose bass response, or corners with a natural increase... or modes where the LFs are excited... You can make it work!

Cheers!

in AUS, look into Paradigm and SVS subs. One sub that looks like it could be really good is the Paradigm Defiance X15, so you might check on its availability over there.
