Like the title says. Which one is the crowd favorite. The room dimensions are 13Wx17Dx8H

I have looked for reviews of these speakers but could not find a direct comparison of these specific speakers side by side.

My system
Pioneer SC-81
Energy RC-70 fronts
Energy LCR center
Energy Veritas V-Mini surround sides
Energy RC-10 surround backs

Music is my predominant concern HT 2nd.

The sub woofers in my price range seems to be these.

Rythmik LV12r

SVS SB-1000

SVS PB-1000

HSU VTF-1 MK2

The primary difference with any of those will be your space and how each sounds in it. The ported ones (Rythmik and SVS PB1000, or Hsu in ported mode) can theoretically reach the lower frequencies, which you don't find in most music.

I'm very "music centric" with my system too, and recently bought the SVS SB1000. Of course I don't know what I'm missing on the lowest of the low, but for MY space and preferred applications it's everything I wanted. And it's a really compact package!

PS: My space is almost exactly the same size as yours.

Rythmik also offers a sealed versionof the LV12-R called L12

http://www.rythmikaudio.com/L12.html
Yes, and that was a very attractive option for me as well. As I am helping my son put together a system. He however has the room for and prefers the lower end range of a ported sub.

I had been looking at the offerings from SVS, Rythmik and Hsu for my own space and preferences. The decision to go with SVS SB-1000 for me was made by virtue of "right time, right place" because I was at a dealer who had it in stock and had just sold me a pair of KEF R500 "for a song."

Where the OP (AI30909) has similar room size and tastes (music over movies) as I do, perhaps it comes down to where he can place a sub. I am very restricted in that respect, so part of my decision was the smaller physical size of the sealed sub and it works out well for a more responsive sub in music.

I mentioned the L12 in case the OP wasn't aware of it. You can't go wrong with any of these choices. :)

I have not had a chance to hear any of these. But was thinking the HSU might be more versatile.

Thanks for the replies.

I believe you can simply plug the port on the other ported ones too. It seems the biggest difference between them is the Hsu is a down-firing sub and the others are front-firing. I have floors that would absorb too much of the sound, I'd rather fill the room air. :D

I've owned the PB1000 and currently own the SB1000, and I highly reccommend both. IMO both can do music, but the SB1000 does it noticably better ;). Since music is first for you, SB1000 for sure. If you want to flex your walls, then PB1000 all the way ;).

For music, I think the Rythmik L22 should be considered. Sealed box, two 12" drivers, each driver has its own 300 Watt servo amp. Data-bass.com has done the charts for the

Yes to all. Any of those should be fine in the OP's room. I'd lean toward the SB1000, but would probably opt up to the SB2000 just because more is never too much except cost. I'd actually say your best bet might then even be the VTF-2 Mk5 rather than the VTF-1.

I own two full sets of GR speakers and have used his sub drivers before (with a rythmik amp no less lol) with excellent results. These two guys working together is definitely a good thing.

Ported vs sealed, best bet for 50-50? Sealed won't hit as low as ported, but won't sealed have a higher spl on the lower notes than ported? Not to jack the thread but it is over 2 yrs old lol.

I am in the same boat as of now. Guys at SVS are recommending SB1000 but everywhere i read on the internet Ported one is famous amongst the two. My choice is split between movies and music 50:50.

Hi... what size is your room? LxWXH?
When I was shopping for subs, most of the conversation centered around output, because so many of the subs you see recommended by us are really good. As was said earlier in this thread: you can’t go wrong.
If cost and simplicity of use are driving factors, svs for the 1000 &2000 series or Hsu is great.
If you have a good ear and are willing to dive deep into the technical side, I think Rythmiks options may outperform considering the level of control you are given.
That said, depending on room size and your budget, I would recommend stepping up to the next level over the 1000 series.

My room is just about the same size, though only 7-1/2' ceiling. I started with an SB1000. When I bought my son an SB2000 for his larger room, I saw how it wasn't much bigger than the SB1000 but worked SO much better that I went out and bought him a PB2000 and took his SB2000 home to my place.

Now I want to swap that out for a KEF Kube 12b because it's better than the SB2000 and costs about the same. ;)

If you would have went with Rythmik, it would have eliminated the swapping of subs.

I won't buy subs I can't demo. My dealer has SVS, KEF, Paradigm, several others. I also don't care for the sharp cornered black boxes, though their veneered ones look great.
