Low subwoofer pre-out signal

Hi all, I have a yamaha receiver and the sub signal output when I connect my Crown XLi 2500 up to the sub out the signal seems to be very weak but used with my home theater active subwoofer signal is strong. Anyone know if the ART CLEANBoxPro 2-channel Balanced / Unbalanced Converter would be a good line signal booster for this or go with something better? I use all rca cables no need for anything different.

Not sure I get it. Why would the receiver’s sub output level change with an amp vs. active sub?

I don't have experience with the Crown XLi2500. I noticed there is sensitivity switch on the back next to RCA/XLR inputs.

Have you used the speakon twist connector or the binding posts for speaker outputs. Maybe you used the speakon and miss-wired it as I have done with my new amplifiers not used to speakon but getting used to it slowly. Got use a good bright light and glasses or magnifying-glass to locate the + and - terminals for wiring.

The binding posts are clearly easy + Red and - Black.

Did you set the amp up for bridge mode to max the output power. There is switch next to RCA/XLR inputs that must be set to Bridge mode. Only one channel should be increased that is commonly the left channel (not the right channel that should remain turned off)

Please refer to reading the users manual which is easy to read and well laid out in detail better than the behringer amplifier that I have.

Yes I put the amp at .775 volts and it was in bridged mode all i know is that pro audio amps take more signal to do the same as home audio. ive used both speakon and bare wire to the wire connections in the back of the amp

What gain setting are you using on the XLi?
the volume gain about 2 clicks from half but i raised the volume up almost all the way up i can hear it but not as loud as it should be it works perfectly fine on my active subwoofer

Quit comparing the amps. It's fine to have the gain at full on the XLi, too. On my various plate amp subs it's typical to set them at 1/4 to 1/3 of the gain, but on my XLS amps (and mine are fixed at 1.4V sensitivity) I need more gain. As long as you can achieve clipping you're fine.
