My main thought is upgrading to multeq xt32 and watts per channel. Because an important factor in this is should I get a higher watt receiver with xt32 that can get more out of my towers or should I keep what I have and bi amp my towers

Your Boston Acoustics towers do have good response down to 40 Hz so XT32 Sub EQ HT can definitely help smooth their combined response with the two 10" subwoofers. You may or may not like it better though, depending on your room and the kind of bass you like. Just because the bass response is flatter and more accurate, does not mean it automatically sounds better to everyone.
Whether you need more power or not, it depends on your room size and seating distance, and whether you watch movies at loud level comparable to that you would experience in a movie cinema. For example, if you do listen that loud, and you sit farther than, say 9 ft, you are likely going to need more power than the X1400H can deliver. In that case, you should grab a AVR-X3400H for now, and start saving up for a 200 WPC power amp to gain another 3 dB of headroom. I would think that most people don't listen at such high level. Try the calculator linked below:

For sensitivity, I would use 89 dB and not the specified 93 dB, just to be on the conservative side because there are going to be impedance dips at or below 4 ohms somewhere in the low and mid bass regions.
