I thought ARC was a good thing....

I’ve been using my Sony x700 to stream Netflix . It supports Dolby vision and it streams very well. I’ll probably just use that or the firestick

This:

I don’t know why people with AVRs use smart TVs anyway. It’s easy enough to get your streaming from Roku, et al.
Because sometimes smart TV apps are better than the Roku etc versions, at least for a while while while the others catch up. For example the LG smart TV version of Netflix supports Atmos. It's likely that the Roku (high-end only), Android TV, and Fire TV versions will catch up but LG got there before them.

I suspect that the OP is dealing with a settings issue but it's impossible to say for sure. I don't use my TV's tuner, but once in a while I do use the TV's netflix app and I have no trouble at all with ARC sending audio to my receiver.

For any chance of success with ARC and CEC, you need to have all devices on HDMI 2.0. I don’t have anything positive to say about HDMI versions prior to HDMI 2.0.

Do you have your HDMI 1.4 cable plugged into the correct HDMI port? On my LG TV only HDMI port 2 supports ARC. Current generation LG TVs support ARC so if you are using the correct port on the TV then most likely the problem is a settings issue within the receiver. Getting ARC settings right in the receiver can be a real pain.

Theses are hdmi 2.0 and the hdmi cable should also be a certified hdmi 2.0 cable between the tv and AVR as well as between the UHD player and AVR. They are cheap from Monoprice. There should be HDR10 support for the 7012 and the x700 and the OLED display.

(If Dolby Vision, make sure the AVR supports it, otherwise you will need to run direct cable on UHD player to TV for video and a separate HDMI cable for sound to AVR)

All the cable are new 2.0 cable hooked into arc port on the tv and on the avr. Hdmi control in set to on on both as well

Well I have noticed several of these threads this year about issues with HDMI ARC and CEC from both Marantz and Denon even when using all HDMI 2.0 devices.

The only issue I've had with ARC (LG TV and Denon receiver) was with remote control and those issues are long gone ARC settings issues with the receiver that I just had to work through. My Harmony Elite controls volume and all other functions of all of my devices including my TV, and my LG remote controls both LG apps on the TV and volume on my receiver. Sound from the LG's apps not only works, I'm getting 5.1 sound and Atmos across ARC. If it works with my setup and for tens of thousand of others then it's either a defective or incompatible device (TV, receiver, or the cable itself) or a settings issue. Anyway I'm out of ideas so I'll let you guys figure it out. Best of luck.

I have the x800 and the x700 in different rooms and I can definitely verify those settings. Not familiar with the other 2 but I’m happy to look for an online manual to look at the settings. I immediately thought of the cable itself and trying a different one is a good idea.

Fixed. Although im not sure what fixed it. I unplugged everything and reset both tv and avr. I also downloaded several updates in the past week for the tv. But its working now.
I guess if everything worked right out of box and never needed tweaking ,,life would be boring and we would have no need for awesome forums and websites like audioholics. Thanks to everyone for chiming in on this subject. Its all appreciated
