Upgrade Pioneer SC-27?

I use my Pioneer SC-27 primarily in a home theater environment with occasional dedicated music listening. I am generally happy with the receiver, but.... Rarely there is some distortion and I cannot determine whether it is from the receiver or other elements in the system. I suffer severely from Gear Acquisition Syndrome which is starting to make me twitch and which has lead me to seek help. Here. The receiver is old, but was pretty good when I bought it. What might I benefit from if I were to get a current receiver? Many thanks in advance.

Unless there is a feature your missing or just upgraditis probably no benefit. What sub are you using and how large is your room?

I was afraid that would probably be the case. Room is 12' x 12' x 9'H. Subwoofer is RBH DC-1061. Thanks for your response.

Usually the most meaningful upgrade is to the speakers, then avrs, amps, preamps etc if they are lacking any features. When the plasma dies then your gonna need the upgrade for 4k or more with the avr.

Unfortunately, my TV and my noisey air compressor refuse to die.
