Add-on super-tweeters have not usually been a good idea. Most speakers make the stretch to the upper limit of human hearing, or at least they come close. Most audiophiles are middle-aged men whose hearing is not great above 10 kHz and is mostly gone above 15 kHz anyway. The people who could actually hear the sounds that this thing makes- children and sensitive women- will likely find the sound that thing produces to be obnoxious. Add to that there is very little useful information in recorded content in super-tweeter ranges. It is mostly just 'air' or ambience. Reactions: snakeeyes

I’m a big Aperion fan and was pretty disappointed when I saw that product. Aperion has always been a great product sold at a reasonable price without gimmicks or junk. This looks like they are veering into the world of high end speaker cables and just chasing dumb money. I still think they make a great range of speakers but this was a disappointing move. I believe the marketing blurb is "By extending the frequency response by 2 octaves this corrects time & phase response within the bandwidth of normal human hearing" YMMV, but I like them.

Click to expand... Tannoy is generally a brand I like. I have no objection if a speaker has an extended high frequency response, but its not really advantageous if it does either. It doesn't hurt anything but it doesn't help anything, at least for human hearing. Dogs might find such speakers obnoxious. Reactions: Bookmark

I was impressed with the build quality and cabinet. I cannot speak as to the inner components and cross over quality. What i can say is my listening preference and requirement in my HT application was for a smooth tweeter without any hint of sibilence and bass which is cohesive. This center does that. And i was pleasantly surprised. I can also say it is not state of the art in terms of inner detail and articulation. And i dont know how close the center is to the towers. So i recommended as said above, springing for the full price and trying at home
