What entry level studio monitors should I buy?

I'm willing to spend about $300.00. I'm not a musician or artist... I just don't want the basic, consumer level computer speakers that anyone can get from Best Buy.

I'd be connecting them to my PC, and I ideally I could connect them to my A/V receiver or television in the den (cheap crappy Vizio my wife picked out so it's nothing special).

I would look at JBL, Mackie, Yamaha, or Behringer. There is nothing good you can get at BestBuy I don think though. Look at Sweetwater.com.

Does your receiver have pre-outs? Does your tv have line outs? Your pc probably does.... Always best to list specific make/model of gear in question for confirmation.

My first thought is the JBL LSR305...

I do have the JBL305MkII's They are excellent - but you'll need two separate 1/4 inch plugs or XLR connectors to play them from the source.

If it's just regular speakers with the A/V receiver then it's these - http://philharmonicaudio.com/aa.html

Except the pc or tv wouldn't be able to power the AAs. Unless they're all hooked into a receiver...but good speakers for sure.

You know what...scratch them going into the TV because I probably wouldn't even do that. Just something solid for my PC.
