I think I blew the front left and right outputs on my Harman Kardon receiver

I have a Harman Kardon DPR 1001 receiver and I connected the center speaker to a Sony receiver. At the time, both receivers were on. I was actually checking to see if the center output on the Sony was working. I kept hearing loud pops during the test. I realized both receivers were on at that moment. I turned the Kardon off and was playing a lens cleaning disc. Once I cleaned the lens, I was ready to listen to cassette connected to the Harman Kardon. Once I realized the something was wrong I did a speaker test. The front left and right speakers have no output. Any solution to make the system normal again?

So....you had 2 different AVRs hooked up to the same terminals on your center channel at the same time? And put power through that connection?

Consider that a learning experience, you likely fried the output devices on that HK.

Do you have an opinion...
Repair or toss?

I have never attempted a repair of that nature, so I can't really say for sure. I guess if it were ONLY the OPTs then they could be replaced, but I don't know the age of this equipment and if older then those could be difficult to source or NLA.

Just a quick google search, and I see a few threads on audiokarma about output transistor replacement.

Also, youtube is your friend! Start there.

Sometimes we have to take a dive. That was cool, though. Sometimes I buy electronics that need repair and proud of my work, but this is the first time I messed up an operable system. I knew I was wrong to have both systems on, but, in the past, I guess I was lucky. I normally have two systems connected to the bass. Maybe what it was is the Sony had 100 watt outputs and the Harman Kardon DPR 1001 had 50 each outputs.

You may have not harmed anything. Remove cover and check fuses.

Thanks to all you guys who have been nice enough to reply. Every comment was better than none. I’m back in stride again. One guy told me to check fuses. I decided I wasn’t going anywhere this Friday night because I was broke. I knew I wasn’t going to find any fuses because I took the unit apart when i first bought it a year ago. I decided to double check. I always take a used unit apart to clean the inside. After I saw no fuses, I decided to double up the speakers on the rear outputs. When I doubled up on the first output, I noticed only the rear speaker would play. I pulled out a spare speaker and doubled up again. Both speakers played. I took the spare speaker loose and connected it to the front output and it played. The speaker that would not play was magnetically grounded. I guess I just messed up the ground in the old speakers. Oh well, rather it be speakers than receiver. I’m back in stride. Thanks everyone! I like the comment with the cat.

Please explain "magnetically grounded"???

I meant magnetically sheilded
Magnetically shedding is some kind of protection around the speaker magnet which protects other electronics from interference. You can find out more on Google. I looked it up and that is the best way I can explain it. I really don’t understand why the two speakers went out. I don’t think I can open the speakers but when I get a chance I will open them one way or another since it seems they are out of commission. I don’t like to trash electronics. When I open them i’ll Iet you know the outcome. Thinking about opening them now. It’s after 11pm and i’m Not
