I have a Yamaha RX-A830 Adventege receive that has 2 subwoofer outputs. I am currently trying to utilize the second output and finding it giving poor audio response, not giving the same kind of sound the 1st one gives. Does anyone know why this might be ? Thanks, in advance

Do you need to tell the avr there is a second sub hooked up now? Does it have separate level/delay adjustments for each sub pre-out? Did you re-run YPAO?

On top of that, are you using matching subs or two different ones? If the former, are their gain controls the same?

I ran the ypao and it still did not recognize that there were 2 subs. I don't know how to tell the receiver there are 2 subs, I have went through all the adjustments and cannot find where it would adjust this. Thanks again, Mike M

They are different but the gain is the same and all the other adjustments are matched. Thanks again , Mike M

The 830 won’t know you have 2 subs. (That feature starts at the A2000 and up). You should get identical output out of both sub outs and then you can split the difference as far as distance in the setup. If one sub output doesn’t work you can use a splitter rca y cable on the output that does work.

Thanks a lot for all the input, as it turns out I had to readjust my gain knob it was somehow not making the connection of the signal. I took it apart and cleaned with detoxic and wiped it off really well and this enabled me to re-establish the signal again. I was fooling around with the knob and discovered this by accident.

I get really strange when my 'DUCKS AREN'T IN A ROW". This is one of the few things I can come home to at night after a long day and relax to, and when it isn't up to par I get really goofy. I know, who cares right? Thanks again guys.....Mike M

They're different but the same? Doubtful unless it's the same exact amp....which isn't too likely on different subs...but glad you got it figured out in any case.

Apples are different; yet, they are the same, not so much in electronics. Once output from each of your subs has been matched or is even close, no ill effect, or harm. Thing is, unless you've got a realitively large room there also may not be a realization of the larger than life expectation from a second sub in action.

I agree with this however some people might localize a single sub easier, especially if mid bass isn’t good in at least the front speakers.
