Can anybody suggest me which Amplifier between the above 2 are best for my Harman Kardon HKTS9 Speakers with Sub Woofer?

Who offers better service in Mumbai, India? Which will turn out to be less cost wise for after sales repairs when the product goes out of warranty?

I have SONY 65X8500D which has 4K HDR but the picture quality is worse! SONY TV has turned out to be pathetic for me and their SONY employees are no longer listening to my complaints sent to them about Worse Picture Quality. They have turned their DEAF EARS towards me and have no interest to support me.

I never knew SONY"s service will be such horrible and its TV a NIGHTMARE!!!

So I've realized that both of these amplifiers have the capabilities to upscale present HD content to 4k but which one can best to this job to clear the dirt leftover by SONY company.

SONY CHEATED ME WITH THIS RUBBISH TV - 65X8500D!!!!

I earlier had Harman Kardon AVR 1700 Amplifier which no longer works. The cost of repairs is given to me as approx Rs. 28'000/- which includes labour cost of Rs. 2'200/-. DC Board and Power supply isn't working.

You can see in the enclosed pictures of my speakers wall mounted.

I use Airtel HD+ set top box which outputs 1080i resolution.

In terms of the video section, I'd probably take Yamaha since it has dolby vision and HDR10 spec. As for the speakers either one would be fine for driving them.

Now let's address your display. What sources are you feeding to it? Have you done any calibration? What picture setting are you using?

I've connected Airtel HD+ Set top box via an HDMI Cable to this SONY TV. It output 1080i signal.

None of the settings I did on this crap SONY TV could give me best outstanding picture quality - which SONY was better known for until now when my mis-conception on this got cleared. SONY TV itself turned out to be a piece of "Garbage"!!!

I get your upset, but a name dosent make a great display. In the US the new equivalent model sells for $1400. 65" for that price is a lower mid level display. Still the picture shouldn't look like crap. If you care to share the info I asked about, maybe we can notice something out of place.

What picture setting are you using? Where you hooking the display thru the old HK or directly to the tv?

Thanks for your quick reply! The HDMI Cable connects from Airtel STB HD+ Box directly to SONY TV. It's a 4k HDMI Cable. I've set the display settings on this SONY TV as Vivid.

I’ll download the manual and see what the US equivalent is. I can’t imagine vivid being the optimal picture mode, I’ll see if can find a calibration file. In the mean time swap cables to confirm that isn’t the problem and confirm the output settings on the STB.

As a note your new AVR “might” upscale the signal better than the display, might.

You may not like those default settings such as vivid, standard etc. I don't know how similar the XBR8500D and XBR850D are, it could be the same for different number for different zones.

There is no harm trying the calibration settings for the 850D.

Many thanks for your efforts to go through the Manual for my SONY TV. As I aren't allowed to post direct link until I complete 5 post therefore, I've visited the link where the manual for my SONY TV is available and taken screen print of it. Please see the enclosed file.

And except Vivid, all other Picture modes I tried are just pathetic with Cinema mode being the worse among all!
In the meanwhile, I'll try swapping the HDMI Cable and check out again.

Regards,
Apoorva.

Cinema usually has the most accurate profile....vivid is more like a setting used in a showroom for the brightest picture. Your source is only 1080i so don't expect miracles from upconverting either....

Get This Yahama
RX-A3080
If you can afford it..
(Tip Of the Day) Always use Fans on the Amps sucking air outwards to reduce heat on the board and other components. Amp will last forever.

Hi!

Well, that's very costly (probably above 2 lakhs INR). Than its better to get a BOSE Home Theatre Setup for that cost. And going beyond particular amount in electronics is a total waste of money, foolish decision with lots of risk involved b'coz these are electronic products and they will definitely go bad one day which companies are eagerly waiting for and than the cost of repairs to bring it back to life will be a Boom - Very high price. It's always better to stay in mid range. But anyway'z, thanks for your suggestion!

Yes its true always buy things in the middle range but if you like good quality music reproduction then yes you have to spend money OR see if anyone is selling there used amp that can also solve your problem, i have tons of Amps, from Harmon kardon, 7000, 520, 435, Yamaha, Sansui old school amps those are killer amps, look around if you can get hold of some old school amps they still hold value.
