Its flexible so you're not confined to just one of the immersive formats, and is intended to be upgradeable.

And it's a third of the price of a JBL SDP-75 so I'm game! My high gable ceiling is perfect for these height speakers since I lose that first ceiling reflection of a normal flat ceiling.

2019 is gonna SOUND awesome!!!!

(and I hear JVC has some new PJs coming out, so it'll look good too!)

The Emotiva and DataSAT/ ATI new Pre-pros are all 16-Ch. The Emo is supposed to be much less expensive than the ATI. Will see in the next week when more news come out.

I love that they got rid of most legacy connectors. I wish Yamaha, Denon, Marantz would also get rid of most of these legacy connectors.

Who needs stereo subs then you could have 3 channel subs?
also only 6 analog multichannel inputs. Why not 8?

The Marantz has 15 speakers + 2 subs outputs. So that's 9.1.6 (9.2.6). So the Marantz has more surround speakers than the Emo and ATI?

If I could custom build like a PC, I would get 5.2.2.

I don't think they're MCH inputs, but rather 3 pairs of L/R analog source inputs.

Yeah, they need to make it look different than all the other Emo components.

I don't know about spending $5K on an Emo 9.1.4 Pre-pro.

It's cool they're making it kind of like Theta, where you can hopefully upgrade in the future by sending the unit back to the company.

I believe it’s great EMO makes their own gear here in the USA, but how much of it really is actually made in produced? I’m almost sure they don’t make their own, transistors and so forth. They could leave off those cheesey front bars, and the blue lite thing, come on man!

Emo is definitely not my taste in aesthetics, but I'm sure some people like it.

Probably only in relation to the silly stuff positivefeedback.com reports on? It didn't exactly say the pre-pro isn't high priced either....

It’s significantly higher-priced than the excellent $2500 Yamaha CX-A5100 Pre-pro.

Considering its feature set, its not extravagantly priced. This is all assuming everything works as advertised. That is a hell of a feature set and I would not be surprised if it wasn't working perfectly at launch.

It crossed my mind too right away, that it wouldn't be bug free at launch, or even long after. I have had my ex Marantz flag ship prepro for a long 5 years and 3 months with quite a few fm updates, before demoting it for stereo use, and still have not tried all the features so I can't guarantee "everything" was working perfectly, let alone Emotiva.. There are just way too much that can go wrong, and unless one uses all of the features extensively and frequently, one may not notice, whether that matters or not is a different story.

I can't think of one reason why I would spend that much on a prepro, not even if I had a billion, because then I would want to spend more.

So even if I add external Dirac Live to the CX-A5100, it would still come out on top!! I say this because the only reason I would still prefer the AV8805 or AVR-X8500H is Audyssey vs YPAO. Better yet, I can just add Dirac Live to my little X4400H, but XT32 got the job done nicely even without using the Editor so I am happy enough to leave things alone, for now.. So, who needs such a prepro, and why?? The only reason I can think of is, if someone likes its look, but what's the probability for that?
