Need help wall mounting speakers

Hey guys I could use some help on a mounting issue. My room is quiet large and the only way to mount my surrounds is to mount them above these archways a little higher then normal so they need to tilt down. I have some surrounds I want to keep they match well soundwise with the SVS prime towers they're in piano gloss as well. They weigh 28lbs though. But man they can fill that room with sound. They have a mount template on the back of them. However those mounts are discontinued. My question is this I found some TV mounts that would work perfect they hold up to 50lbs. I figure I can mount the speaker to blocks of wood through the mount on its back and then mount those blocks to the tv mounts since the threads don't match up. Any advice or suggestions would be really helpful guys especially if you have any prior experience with this. If I'm on the wrong place to post I apologize. I wasn't sure where to put this one

Personally, I've never been scared to put new screws into the backs or bottoms of a speaker. Might be easier. Just remove the driver so you know whats there before putting the screws in. 28 lbs is not that heavy. Your mount should work fine. If you don't wanna do that post the speakers models. Maybe somebody can help you find something.

They are the Elan Theaterpoint THP650LS
I'm gonna try to post pics but for some reason this site keeps telling me my photo files are too large from my phone. I actually don't have a problem putting screws into the backs of them at all they have a 4 hole threaded mount and the screws that come with them are like an inch long so I figure I can just screw some screws in from the tv mount around those areas. The dimensions are big 19 inches tall by 8 inches wide by 12 inches deep so I figure if I put screws in that area I'm not going to hit anything. I'll post some pics now if my phone will let me. And if anyone has experience with these maybe they can give me some tips. Thanks for your help.

Those are a bit bigger than I imagined. Must sound nice! I think your original idea with a piece of wood between the speaker and mount should work. If it were my I'd probably use some real hardwood planks. The stuff you make the nice shelves out of. Time to pull out your inner Macgyver!

Yeah they sound phenomenal which is why I want to use them. In such a big open space I need something even on the surrounds that can really move some air. I thought about matching up my primes with like the prime elevations. But man I'm really skeptical of they're ability to really get down to 80 hertz on the crossover with any authority. And I'm really skeptical of they're ability to fill that room with sound. I'd have to upgrade to the bookshelves prime or ultra to match these but that's like 1000 to 2000 plus mounts etc and well it only cost 200 and some change for the mounts and if I run the wires myself well upgrading just ain't an option Lol. I thought the wood blocks was the right approach too. Man I got them sized perfect the backs of those speakers have 4 5/8 mechanical screws with deep threads so once I lock those boards on and then lock the tv mounts on as well to the board well them bad boys ain't going nowhere. Yeah Macgyver said he's coming over this weekend to help!

What amp do you use for all these speakers? I have been looking at Monolith 3 but on the fence still.

I got some great advice from some of you guys here. I scored an onkyo txnr809 on CraigsList for $200 before I bought my house. It's a thx certified solid state amp in it that's 135 w per channel 2 channels driven it won't put that out all 7 channels driven but it puts out more then enough. So since it puts out good sound and can run pretty much anything pretty loud I was told to ficus on getting my speakers right first. Then and only then upgrading my reciever and power amps. That's why you see me always talking about speakers right now. The Rhythmik FV 18's subs come in the first week of September and once they're in and setup I'm going to trade up and switch my 3 front prime towers to the Ultra Towers. Then after that I'm done. I haven't been able to find anything that can match those Elan Theater Points as surrounds. After that I'm saving all next year for a 85 inch TV and then it's separates time oh hell yeeeaahh. But that Onkyo will drive everything just fine until I get my money saved up. Once I do tho I'm thinking maybe a Monoprice 7 channel for the mains and surrounds although 200 watts per channel is overkill even for those surrounds. Then a decent 5 channel for the ceiling speakers. For when I do atmos. I don't know there's a lotta options. Maybe Monoprice 3 channel for the mains. Outlaws 5 channel one everybody raves about for the surrounds and then like a emotiva basx 5 channel for the ceiling. It's gonna be fun trying to figure it out that's for sure. But I guess we'll cross that bridge when I get to it ya know?

I have like almost bought the Outlaw 5000 several times. It is very affordable but the Monolith 3 has me thinking.

Yeah The outlaw 5000 is perfect for my surrounds they can handle it's output the Monolith Id use for the Ultras up front I don't plan using the XLR's what's the point really if your not doing long runs I'm not saying it doesn't still make an impact but the impact for me will be minimal enough I'd rather save money and get the 5000 for my surrounds

Ya I’m thinking front 3 in the HT room. It makes sense to get newer speakers first but I may do an amp first.

Dims for your surrounds are 7 3/4" x 19 1/2" x 12 1/2" per the manual. I'd think the Pinpoint AM40 (and there are some Videosecu brand mounts that are essentially the same) is another mounting option for you since they can accomodate up to 50 lbs and the depth/width are within its parameters. I paid a lot less than $90 each for mine...more like in the $35 range IIRC so shop around. They have some positioning options, altho a tv mount may have more....
