Denon AVR-X4300H Audio dropping

All,
Good afternoon. I am hoping some one can help me. I have the following set-up (there is more, but this is the relevant chain):

Roku Ultra
HDMI
Denon AVR-X4300H

I am getting audio drop outs while streaming Netflix. I have changed the cable and the Denon input...still happening. If I power cycle the receiver, everything works fine for a bit - sometimes a couple hours of streaming, sometimes a couple minutes.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thank you.

Since the soft resets aren't doing it, have you tried a full microprocessor reset? Might want to be sure you record your settings since that will return it to factory settings.

Did you just power cycle the Denon, try doing that for the Roku as well? Never hurts and may clear issues....electronics are fun.

A couple of questions..
When the audio drops out is the video still OK?
Have U tried plugging the Roku directly into the HD display?

Just my $0.02.... ;)

So I have factory reset the Denon, loaded my settings back in, and rebooted the Roku. We will see what happens.

Video is fine when audio drops. Roku to display not really an option (projector, no audio option)

None of that worked...3:23 minutes in audio dropped. Cycled denon power, see how long I get...

Might be inherent handshake issues in the interface between the two units. HDMI certification isn't done by Denon/Marantz as @M Code has advised before, not sure about Roku if they bother or not.

WiFi or Ethernet cable?

If WiFi, should try Ethernet.

Roku is hardwired...

Any other ideas on how to resolve...very frustrating

Sorry, but I'm not tracking on how the projector could be the problem with the audio dropout. the audio path stops at the receiver, right?

I believe any part of the hdmi chain can create issues....

Ah, got it. However it does not happen with any other sources - Xbox One X, blu-ray player, or the RaspberryPi 3 running OSMC. Audio on all these is fine.

I will say the more I went digging on the web, the more instances of this happening...

While I am within the 1 year warranty period, I am not within the return period. Not sure getting a new unit would help.

Ya wasn’t there another thread where a 4300 or 4400 was not working well with hdmi to an Apple TV? Think was a couple weeks ago. I recommended to go to the TV with the streamer then use the hdmi arc to the demon.

Full disclosure I have Yamaha though. :)

Have U tried the Roku directly connected to the HD display as suggested a few days back?
Another possible solution may be to step down the video resolution within the Denon..
HDMI/HDCP has critical software timing specs and if not in sync certain problems such audio or video dropouts can occur...

Just my $0.02... ;)

Just mentioned it to keep it mind. Seems I read of more hdmi issues involving projectors generally, too. Maybe change the Roku out for another streamer?

Reminds me of my Denon and Direct TV box - audio and video dropouts. I had to buy a HDMI-to Component Video + Coax Audio Output Converter.

My Yamaha didn't have any HDMI issues (sound and picture dropouts).

Try to plug in the Roku directly in the outlet and not a strip.
