infinity kappa perfect 12d VQ and 10.1

Hello

i have an infinity kappa perfect 10.1 and a 12d VQ. TLS guy has warned me about the 12d VQ failure (cone and voice coil seperating). ive been doing research and it seems to be true that the 12.1 had a high failure rate when abused slghtly, still not sure what ill do. ive seen a lot of recomendations to use a jl 12w6 to replace the 12d vq since it had similar enclosure specs. so maybe ill build a box for my 12d VQ and shop for a used 12w6 until i find a great deal on one. am i right about the 12w6 replacing the 12d VQ or was it only the 12.1.

Also, i have a kappa perfect 10.1 in my car. this this one also have the same failure problem or was it spared ?

That is certainly not true for a vented cabinet. The T/S parameters are way different. The VAS for instance have a difference of nearly 100%.

Basically you can never swap drivers for vented cabinets. Cabinets are highly driver specific.

oh, maybe they were talking about a sealed enclosure .
what about my 10.1 kappa perfect. is it on a failure timer too or was that one ok ?

Who knows? Failure is a time use intensity curve with a wide scatter.
