If I'm not mistaken, that's a nice Christmas present to yourself because it's $100 cheaper than the previous one and offers more features. :)
I'm from Australia. Our local retailers are selling it $200 more than the 13 Ultra. I converted the Australian dollar price, it works out to be about $2,400 US dollars. I emailed SVS about it. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of it.

Not cool. The SB13 Ultra sold here for US $1599.99, and the new SB4000 Ultra sells here for US $1499.99, so you have a legitimate complaint.

Our friends down under get hosed on motorcycle prices too, iirc. o_O

I'm well aware. I have a friend in Western Australia, not far from Perth, who shares my interest in the machinist hobby. The prices he has to pay for machines, tooling, and raw materials is outrageous compared to what we pay here.

Everything here is far more expensive than the US. Even imported beer like Corona, Budweiser etc is sold cheaper here than our locally made beer ROFL!

You have better beer available than Corona and Budweiser, surely? That's a pretty low bar... :)

Really miss the days when SVS was a great value. Too many other internet direct competitors that excel in value today. 2k for a 13" ported sub? Really? You can get an 18" Rythmik for that or even a JTR.

So you've heard it and compared it to other subs then? Which ones specifically?

I wouldn't judge value without such testing and comparing, surely you wouldn't either. ;)

The 4000 naming has nothing to do with JTR's subs. SVS already had the 1000 for the lower $500 line, 2000 for the $800 subs, and now they are using 4000 for the $1500 to $2000 subs. I am pretty sure they are reserving the 3000 name for when they redo the 'Plus" series subs. I am sure that you will see that amplifier and DSP technology trickle down to that line before too long, and when it does, they will probably rename them the 3000s.
Hey Shady I was curious to know if you feel they are ever going to redo the plus series. I couldn't help but notice on they're website they discontinued the plus line

I am sure they are, and no doubt they are working on it right now. I don't know exactly when they will launch those subs, but the discontinuation of the Plus series leaves a big gap in the price point between the 2000s and 4000s. My guess is you will see something like a "3000" series launch in the Q3 or Q4 of this year.
