I saw somewhere that you said Hegel comes to America. Can you tell me of a dealer here ? I'm IN Florida. Thanks.

I remember finding one in Minnesota a while back when I was looking pricing up.....it's not on their website or their distributor's website?

ps May be remembering the right thread discussing it, but it may have been the Lyngdorf that was also being discussed.....

Welcome to AH,

Your pseudonym is Nobuckstospare, but if you indeed have a limited budget, you might have recently heard a new Hegel amp or you have read an outstanding review about it's performance. But there are so many good amplifiers on the market which have an acoustical transparency. Beyond a certain outlay on electronics, any improvement is so marginal that most people cannot hear the difference except for only a few who have golden ears, and this has been proven by so many experiments.

If I was in your shoes, I would purchase a less costly amplifier and put the saved money on better speakers if necessary. If that is the situation, there would definitely be a noticeable improvement with better speakers.

Go here: https://www.hegel.com/usa Scroll down to see dealers in Florida to find out which one is closest to you.

I demo'd a H190 amp during a recent KEF/Hegel/Nordost event in my area and was quite impressed. It has loads of input options, decodes MQA (if that is important to you - I stream Tidal, so it would be nice to have that on board) and several file formats. I do not believe it can serve as a Roon end point yet, but I believe I read that an update is in the works, if Roon is important (it will be to me).

I went in with the intention of listening to a pair of KEF R500s and, through the Hegel, they sounded great (since this was a sponsored event, no comparisons to, say, an available Parasound Halo integrated, were offered). Is Hegel expensive? Undoubtedly. Worth the cash outlay? Only you and your pocketbook can be the judge of that.
