Hi fellow Audioholics! Time to do some 'spring cleaning' and I'm thinking of moving my AVR to the top shelf, it will then be closer to the left speaker, will that cause a hum or other noise problem?

It will be fine. Keep the speaker cable away from power cables and everything will sound good.

I have been running speaker cables close and parallel to power cables without any hum or other problem. Maybe the situation is more critical when you drive to high SPL levels. Of course, it is more critical with low power source signal cables.

Lol, so have I. Its generally not recommended though, especially using line level cables. I only mention it as a precaution. Probably nothing bad will happen, but might as well avoid doing it anyway if that is possible.

have not decided yet, I have 2 TT's, one will go to the 'computer room' to be used to digitize some records.
I like the tt on the top shelf, so was wondering if you were removing the tt from that setup....

No, I will keep the Marantz tt on top, just moving it to an identical rack to the right of the TV, and the Pro-ject manual tt will likely move next to computer so I can convert a vinyl LP to digital as I cannot find an existing one on iTunes or elsewhere.
