Hi knowledgeable friends,
My Denon AVR X2400H has stopped sounding through Definitive technology speakers, no UI display on the Sony TV, SETUP button not working and not connected with the WiFi internet anymore. However the front panel of the AVR is showing almost all sources through the remote and local selecter buttons.
I have tried to 'initialize' it by pressing all three buttons: power, channel+ and channel- buttons. It shows 'initialize' and then starts showing input sources. But just that and no sound or UI on the TV.....
What to do, friend? I'm dumbfounded and depressed. Please help, sir, kindly help.

How old is that unit and is it still under warranty? You have done a reset and still have the problem, so this is not something you will fix.

I have no idea of the price of the unit in India, so you will have to determine repair versus replacement costs in your area. You live in a city of over 1 million population, so I would suppose there are some repair options if it is out of warranty.

Hello sir,
Thanks for the response. It is purchased only in January 2018, and is under warranty period.
It cost me Rupees 60000.00 which is a lot of money even by USD standard.
With import duty combined, these are very cost prohibitive in the Indian cities and as such are available only online from importers in big metropolitan cities like Mumbai etc. and therefore no service or repair agencies in my city.
I have mailed the problem to the dealer and phew! No response from those guys. But sure I'm to pursue the matter with them.
Thanks anyway sir, but could it be consulted with the Denon company?

Yes, that is almost exactly double the US price. We have had a number of posts from India of customers being ignored by dealers. It also seems to me there are a lot of grey market units sold in India.

If the dealer you bought it from will not reply, then you will have to contact Denon. If it is not grey market they will arrange for it to be sent to an authorized repair center. If it tuns out you were sold a grey market unit, which being India is a distinct possibility then unfortunately it will be your loss. If it is a grey market unit, I would contact the police in Mumbai. Hopefully there is no baksheesh involved.

Hopefully, it's not a grey market unit as the invoice shows the GST paid and mentioning price inclusive of import duty. Well, as the things are unfolding, I would have to contact the Denon.
Could you please help me with that. Would a visit to their portal might help?

Well I don't think I can do you any good here.

However Denon does not have an official presence in India. They have no representatives. They only have an official presence in these Asian countries: -
Asia Pacific
So I would bet that your unit was purchased from a dealer in one of the countries above without sanction from Denon/Marantz, which is owned by Sound United. They have no presence in India either. I suspect this is because of Indian law, which make is very difficult for foreign firms to get a presence in India to sell and distribute product.

Having said that MZ Audio, claim to be an importer and warranty center for Marantz. They say nothing about Denon. However Denon/Marantz are the same outfit and owned by Sound United.

If the dealer won't respond, I would contact MZ audio.

In the end surely you must know the audio scene in India better than I do.

Lastly who was the dealer you bought your unit from? I assume they must have an Internet site, otherwise you could not have bought it.

Are you sure you haven't accidentally engaged zone 2 or something along those lines?

May be I assumed too much, however as I understand the OP he has no sound from any speaker and can not get the user interface to display. I assume he gets a picture from an input source. If he can not see the UI, then something is seriously amiss.

Probably it's defective since a reset should enable main zone over zone 2 etc.....but a thought to check out, like all connections, that sort of thing.

I would definately check all your settings. I recently had exactly the same problem and after a lot of handwringing discovered I accidently changed a setting that caused the problem. So make absolutely sure you didn't do something as simple as that. I have an older receiver and just bought a 4k tv and found out because bandwith issues or something I can no longer bring up the menu or volume control on the tv screen. If you recently bought a new 4k set that could be an issue, but if you have 2018 model Denon I doubt it.

Disconnect the power cord to check the voltage from the outlet and make sure the wires aren't loose (with the circuit breaker or fuse disconnected)- if it's not the usual voltage and no wires are loose, this could be due to a power surge.

Disconnecting an AVR from power and the network can sometimes help with these problems. Disconnect the cable connecting the receiver to the TV- if the speakers work, you may have an electrical problem in the house.
