Hi, building a large home theater in basement. 1000 square foot room. 150 in screen. Please recommend speakers to put behind screen. Thinking 3 big klipch with two big subs. All speakers powered by dennon 8500. 4 ceiling speakers a pair of sides and 2 back surround. All (Non behind screen) speakers will be in wall flush.

If it's primarily a movie room...I think your Klipsch idea for the front 3 speakers is fine.

If you wanted to amp it up some or you will use this space as much for music as movies...I might look at another speaker brand, not a huge fan of the horn tweeter.

The Monitor Audio Silver line, or the Revel Concerta line come to mind as SQ upgrades.

Surround speakers...the side and rear surrounds as inwalls imo are not ideal for SQ, but they are surrounds so if that gives you the aesthetics the wife can work with...I understand.

Please tell us your speaker budget and the total cubic feet - WxHxD

A floorplan with seating would be very helpful - hand-drawn would be fine.

Hi, 2.4:1 or 16:9 screen fixed frame? I want big! 8 ft ceiling and practically unlimited width. 150 inch max for 16:9. But will I be happier with 2:4 and what should the max width and height be? Thank you.

Not sure where your budget is, but if you are serious about the big Klipsch, this is a good price on the La Scala II Anniversary Edition ($2700 ea, MSRP $7000/ea.). They only made 70 of these, but I guess that was too many if they need to discount by >50% to move them. The regular La Scale II is $4000/ea.
Note, they weigh 175 pounds apiece.

As Klipsch puts it:
You're not buying a speaker - you're buying a piece of American audio history with badass sound. :D

Sorry, I thought I had posted a link. I believe it was Adorama, check them. When I get home I'll post a link.

I forgot that this was from an email discount that you cannot simply get if you find the speaker.
However, this link will work fine (or if you call, they take the order without concern about whether you are on their email list.

Here ya go!

By the way, they call these "open box". I can't make promises that there are never open box items, but in my experience, they are new, but Klipsch controls pricing (like Apple does), so Adorama cannot advertise the discounted price on new merchandise.
Also, I have dealt with Adorama a few times and they seem a good outfit - they processed a return I made in a straightforward and professional way.

I don't know what your budget is, but with 150" screen, I would definitely consider having Dolby Atmos speakers in your basement. Big Big difference. Don't go with Klipsch. At least definitive technology speakers.

I'd pick klipsch over deftech, especially considering the size of his room.

You have asked some screen size questions. That line of questioning may be better answered in its own thread in the Projectors forum. You would need to provide the make/model of the projector you own, or intend to buy, and the seating distance you are working with along with where you like to sit in a movie theater before a proper recommendation of screen size can be made. Scope screens are nice, but are a VERY tricky road to walk down if you aren't experienced with front projection and know the pitfalls. This is because whatever projector you buy WILL be a 16:9 aspect ratio, so you aren't working with a 1:1 setup of aspect ratios between projector and screen.

I heard the originals ages ago at A&B Sound in Vancouver and was blown away by them. My brother and I were just reminiscing about that visit this week. It was a killer speaker and didn't needs gobs of power to light it up. The only comparable at the time was a JBL Paragon, which I thought was the best speaker I'd ever heard. Of course both were light years beyond our means at the time, and all we could do was dream...
