Need some help please...

Howdy from Texas, yes we really say Howdy. So we have an LG smart TV hooked up to a Bose HT system as well as an Xbox 1. Ever since we hooked up the system, we get intermittent sound disruptions where you can only hear the TV sound as well as short 1 second blackouts on the Xbox screen. Anyone have any idea what that’s about? HDMI coed isn’t high quality enough, or the router to the internet is too close...?

Should clarify, we only hear the center sound bar sound and the subwoofer cuts out as well as the blackouts occur on the TV screen when using the Xbox, usually at the same time as the sound thing is happening.

How are things connected?

What kind of Bose system do you have?

Are you running everything in 4K?

4K video vs. 1080p is a completely different animal and not everything is always happy with everything else. So, you may have to try different cables, or ways of connecting things to ensure things work right.

I'm guessing that you have all the gear connected directly to the TV and you are using the audio out of the TV to the Bose system. I would expect that the issue may be from the HDMI connection between the XBox and the TV, and that you may want to try, just for a while, setting the resolution output of the XBox down to 1080p resolution instead of 'auto' or '4k' as that may fix the issue and give you some insight as to the cable causing the problem for you.

Thanks for your help. The TV is connected by HDMI to the Bose Lifestyle SoundTouch 135 and the Xbox is connected to the Bose. The TV is fairly new so is 4K but the Bose system is several years old, about 5 yrs old so before 4K was a thing. The Xbox is brand new.

How old is the hdmi cable? I would get a Monoprice one from Amazon or directly from Monoprice. (replace both or all) That is the first thing and not too expensive. Good luck!

Yeah, not all of us say howdy (not that there's anything wrong with that)...we all say y'all though.

However, I do think you've got a bad cable or one of the jacks on the bose system is bad. Or the bose as a whole is bad.

Have you tried plugging everything into the tv bypassing the bose? If that works then you may be able to use arc and keep the bose system if it's just an HDMI input.

Likewise, you can use the digital audio output of the TV to the Bose system to get audio back into the Bose. Instead of switching inputs on the Bose, you would switch inputs on the TV to go to your different sources.

As well, this will allow you to feed your 4K TV 4K sources directly and get the full resolution that the TV allows for and just have audio into the Bose.

It's not as convenient, perhaps, but it does give you the best possible video which is nice based upon the age of your gear.

When you are ready to upgrade the Bose to a 4K capable A/V receiver, we can talk about why most people don't recommend Bose as a product.
