Tidal Master/J River output difference

I just read that Apple Music leads with 43 million tracks, Tidal follows with 40 million, and Spotify's last accounting claimed 30 million. Different features will appeal to different listeners....I like Tidal's comprehensive track and artist info, but never bother with music videos which some appreciate.
Ok, Sir, you've sent me on the hunt and I believe I have found the answer why in my experience Tidal music selection seemed vastly thinner, despite 40 to 50mil songs library claimed.

Price: Tidal has many tiers. It starts at $9.99 per month for standard audio quality; $19.99 per month unlocks Hi-Res audio. Plans for families, students, and members of the military are also available. And you can get a free one-month trial.

Who it’s best for: Music lovers who want high-quality audio (including Hi-Res audio) and offline listening. It's also good for Jay-Z fans. You get his full back catalog (he owns the service).

Pros: Tidal can offer CD-quality and Hi-Res-audio sound (via HiFi, its top-tier service). The very large library has 46 million songs and includes 190,000 videos.

Cons: $20 per month is steep even for most audio snobs, and high-quality audio files can quickly devour small cellular data plans. Though the rap and R&B offerings are comprehensive, the rest of Tidal's catalog is spotty compared with some competitors'.
Bold edit is mine. It makes perfect sense since I have zero interest in any Rap, hip-hop, and recent R&B.

"relevant catalog" is a great point. my experience with Tidal's listing verses Spotify was that Tidal definitely had fewer listings that appeared for my searches. That means the relevant catalog to me was smaller. It doesn't matter if they had 30 million Jay Z songs if the listings I cared about just werent' there.

I am assuming however, on the other side of the coin, that this isn't a stationary problem and that Tidal is gathering and building their catalog every single month. I would assume that because by charging 2x as much for the monthly fee they certainly should have the money to invest in new music. I can't believe they'd just take all the money and line their own pockets. :D

I share your zero interest (to the extent one may share something that does not exist) in Rap, hip-hop, and recent R&B. What genres did you find lacking? I used to have a free subscription to Audiophool, and was surprised to find all new currently revued music on Tidal, across a variety of categories. I enjoy the high quality streaming available, and ease of downloading for offline use. Works for me....and prefer to buying a few CD's a month.
