Star Trek fans, today just may be a day to rejoice as one of your favorite techs just got one step closer to becoming a reality. Scientists have been working with a new material that when submerged in water allows soundwaves to pass around it without alteration. This real-life cloaking device could render submarines undetectable to sonar. Perhaps one day this tech can be adopted to make large hulking subwoofers invisible to our wives?

Seriously, I have no life.
Interesting indeed. But, how would this be applied on a sub, mounted here and there? The whole sub shape covered? How would it affect sub speed and water passage through it? Come to a dead stop and deploy?
Not sure what frequency is used on sub sonar or surface ship sonar.

Cloaking light waves? ;) That would be something until they walk into it and scream. :D

Nice walnut veneer on that table.

Was really a joke just to get people to read/comment ;) Unless you submerge the sub in water, it's not gonna disappear ;)

You mean the Romulans have infiltrated our scientific community?
Where else are they?
Ohhhh, it is all starting to make sense now...

This is confusing- Are you both talking about the same thing? Submarine, or subwoofer?

I got really excited until I saw you're talking sound waves.
